Device for a kitchen furnishing system

Abstract

 This invention relates to a device for a kitchen furnishing system. The system comprises elongated profiles servering as support means and being pro­vided with one or several lines of holes, the profiles being fixed vertically at a kitchen wall and supporting the kitten equipment. The system has a sheet metal cassette (29) with a rear wall (38) extending between two adjacent profiles. The rear wall is at each profile provided with rearwardly extending hooks (41) for fastening the cassette in the holes of the profile. The rear wall (38) continuoues into two parallel and vertical side walls (39,40) extending from the profiles. The walls are provided with support means (42, 43, 44, 49, 54, 55) by means of which alternatively a work top and drawers, a cooking hob or a kitchen sink can be fastened into or on the cassette.

Description

[0001] This invention relates to a device for a kitchen furnishing system compri­sing elongated profiles serving as support means and being provided with one or several lines of holes the profiles being fixed vertically on a kitchen wall and supporting the kitchen equipment.

[0002] Such a system is described in Swedish patent application 8803165-3 and the purpose of this system is to simplify the installation work and achieve a flexibility admitting the kitchen furnishing system to be easily completed or adapted for induvidual purposes not only during the installation phase but also later. The system also comprises few components which are assembled at the building place and which hence are simple to transport and handle.

[0003] The invention relates in particular to a further development of one of the components in the system. This component is a cassette which is a basic element in the system serving as a support for one of several installation units in the kitchen furnishing system. This is achieved by a cassette having the cha­racteristics mentioned in the claims.

[0004] An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings where Fig. 1 shows a vertical section through the system where the cassette is being used, Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the cassette, Fig. 3 is a side view of an intermediate wall of the cassette and Fig. 4 is a plan view of the intermediate wall.

[0005] As appears from the Figures the kitchen furnishing system comprises several elongated vertical profiles 10 which are fastened at the kitchen wall and which are supported by a horizontal tube shaped element 11. The element 11 is by means of several fastening devices 12 anchored at the kitchen wall. The profile 10 is provided with one or several lines of holes in which brackets 13 and 14 respectively are fastened. The brackets and the shelf plates 15 and 16 respectively extending between the brackets form shelves in upper and lower cabinets 17, 18. The upper shelf plate 19 in the upper cabinet 17 serves as a roof part of the cabinet and at its outer end supports a rail 20 in which doors 21, 22 are slidably arranged. The lower bracket 23 of the upper cabinet 17 supports a rail 24 having two downwardly open channels cooperating with spacers 25 and 26 respectively at the lower edge of doors the spacers safe-guarding parallel movement of the cabinet doors.

[0006] In order to cover the area between the upper shelf plate 19 and the kitchen roof a plate 27 is used which is placed on the rail 20 and in the upper part of which a cover strip 28 is fastened.

[0007] The lower cabinet 18 is formed by a cassette 29, normally being provided with a work top 30, a cooking hob or a kitchen sink and will be described in detail below. A rail 31 is fastened to the cassette and supports sliding doors 32, 33 for the lower cabinets. The doors 32, 33 are as well as the doors of the upper cabinet are provided with spacers 34 and 35 cooperating with a rail 36 arranged at the underside of the lower bracket 37 in the lower cabinet 18.

[0008] The cassette 29 mentioned above comprises a bent sheet metal plate having a rear wall 38 and side walls 39 and 40 extending perpendicular to the rear wall. From the rear wall at the side wall area several hooks 41 project rearwards these hooks being inserted into the holes of the profiles.

[0009] The outer ends of the side walls 39, 40 are stair shaped the upper part projecting out from the lower part. The upper edge part 42, 43, 44 of the walls and the front ends 45, 46, 47, 48 of the side walls are bent 90^o towards the interior of the cassette and thus form flanges of the cassette. Between the two side walls 39, 40 and at their free ends there is an upper supporting beam 49 and a lower supporting beam 50. The upper supporting beam 49 is via a rivet joint or the like fastened to the bent edge parts 43 and 44 respectively whereas the lower supporting beam 50 via rivet joints 52 is connected to fastening lugs 53 which are embossed from the side walls.

[0010] At each side wall 39, 40 a guide 54, 55 is fastened by means of rivet joints 56 or the like the guide supporting one edge of a drawer which is movable into the cassette.

[0011] The cassette also has an intermediate wall 57 on which guides 54, 55 are fastened by means of rivet joints 56. The intermediate wall at its rear part has a hook 58 which is inserted through a hole in the rear wall 38 of the cassette and is supported by it. The intermediate wall 57 is at its front part provided with a downwardly extending projection 59 the lower part of which as well as the upper front part of the intermediate wall having tongues 60. These tongues are inserted through slots in the upper and lower support beam 49, 50 and are bent on the opposite side for joining the intermediate wall 57 to the cassette 59. In order to fasten the rail 31 at the cassette the front ends 46, 48 are provided with holes 61 in which the fastening screws for the rail can be inserted.

[0012] The cassette is normally provided with two drawers in order to be used together with a work top. By removing the drawers and the intermediate wall 57 the cassette 59 is quickly converted to a kitchen sink support where the front part of the cassette is covered by a plate fastened i.e. by a snap action arrange­ment. The cassette can as well be converted to a cooking hob support for instance by removing one drawer and cover the opening which ia created by means of a control panel for the hob.

Claims

1. Device for a kitchen furnishing system comprising elongated profiles (10) serving as a support means and which are provided with one or several lines of holes the profiles being vertically fixed at the kitchen wall and supporting the kitchen equipment, characterized in that the system comprises a sheet metal cassette (29) having a rear wall (38) extending between two adja­cent profiles, the rear wall at each profile being provided with rearwardly exten­ding hooks (41) or the like for fastening the cassette in the holes of the profiles, the rear wall continuing into two parallel and vertical side walls (39, 40) pro­jecting from the profiles the walls having support means (42, 43, 44, 49, 54, 55) by means of which alternatively a work top (30) and drawers, a cooking hob or a kitchen sink can be fastened into or on the cassette.

2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the cassette (29) has a intermediate wall (57) which is parallel to and removably fastened between the side walls (39, 40) and which at least partly is supported by the rear wall (38).

3. Device according to claim 2, characterized in that the inter­mediate wall and/or the side walls are provided with guides (54, 55) or the like to support drawers in the cassette.

4. Device according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the side walls (39, 40) at its front part are connected to each other via an upper beam (49) the upper edge of which is placed at the same level as the upper edge parts of the side walls.

5. Device according to any of claims 2 - 4, characterized in that the side walls (39, 40) at its front part are connected to each other by means of a lower beam (50) which partly supports the intermediate wall (57).

6. Device according to claim 5, characterized in that the inter­mediate wall (57) at its front part is provided with means (60) for securing the wall to the lower as well as at the upper beam (49 and 50, respectively).
