Envelope for correspondence to tear open |
(57) An envelope (1) for correspondence to tear open by the means of a rib (4) reinforcing
the paper applied along the folding line of its flap (2).
|

|
[0001] The present invention relates to an envelope for correspondence to tear open without
using any cutting or tearing instrument.
[0002] It is known that there are several means to open envelopes for correspondence, like
using a paper knife or a cutter, or just by tearing off the paper of the envelope.
[0003] In the latter case however also the document inside the envelope might be torn and
thus seriously damaged.
[0004] Already in the past an envelope has been proposed with a thread fixed along the
folding line of its flap, but the application of said thread and its fixing to the
envelope involved some problems.
[0005] The object of the invention is instead to obviate said inconveniences by means of
a combination of elements which will be speficied here under with reference to the
enclosed drawing, where:
Fig. 1 shows an open envelope; and
Fig. 2 shows how a closed envelope is opened.
[0006] In said drawing an envelope 1 is represented which may be of any size or dimension
according to the invention.
[0007] The envelope is closed by a flap 2 presenting an intermediate area 3 which is weakened
by a number of small cuts obtained by punching or some other suitable means.
[0008] Opposed to said area 3 another area 3′ of the same kind is provided in the main part
of the envelope in such a manner that, when the envelope is closed, the two areas
3, 3′ are exactly superimposed.
[0009] In addition, along the folding line of the flap a rib 4 made of an adhesive is applied
to reinforce the paper by forming a kind of strip.
[0010] Once the envelope is closed, to open it it is enough to grasp (see Fig. 2) the precut
and weakened areas 3, 3′ and tear the paper upwards. The stiff rib 4 will then act
as a cutter and thus allow an easy and correct opening of the envelope without using
a paper-knife or the like.
[0011] Obviously said rib 4 may be applied to any side of the envelope during its manufacture,
without surpassing the limits of the invention.
1.) Envelope for correspondence to tear open fitted with a closing flap, characterized in that along the folding line of the flap a rib (4) is applied to reinforce the
paper.
2.) Envelope for correspondence to tear open as claimed in claim 1), characterized in that it presents two precut and weakened areas (3,3′) which in combination with
said rib (4) allow the opening of the envelope by tearing.
3.) Envelope for correspondence to tear open as claimed in claims 1) and 2), characterized in that said reinforcing rib (4) is made of a linear strip of adhesive.
