    (54) Apparatus and method of thermal transfer recording


    (57) A thermal transfer recording apparatus for recording an image on a recording medium (11) by transferring ink of an ink sheet (14) which is characterized by being provided with recording means (13) ink sheet conveying means (25), loading means (85) for applying load on the ink sheet (14) and recording medium conveying means (24), wherein the said ink sheet (14) is conveyed by the tension produced by the friction between the ink sheet (14) and the recording medium (11) and by the action of the loading means (85).
