    (54) Method of removing soot from lubricating oils


    (57) Soot can be effectively removed from a lubricating oil used in a non-gasoline fueled internal combustion engine by contacting the oil with a hetero­genous strong base. This results in improved engine cleanliness and reduced engine wear.
