    (54) Covering for radiators

    (57) Covering for radiators, characterised in that it principally consists of three parts, respectively an upper part (3) and two side parts (4) which are connected to each other in the corners, whereby at least one of both corner connections consists of at least one coupling (7) which is formed by a notch (8) in a first part and a protrusion (9) in the second part working together with this notch (8).

    Description

    [0001] This invention relates to a covering for radiators.

    [0002] More especially it concerns a covering which is intended to be installed along the side edges of flat radiators, which consist of several heating plates.

    [0003] The purpose of the invention is hereby to provide a covering which can be installed and removed again simply, without special tools being necessary for this purpose.

    [0004] For this purpose the invention concerns a covering for radiators, with as characteristic that it principally consists of three parts, respectively an upper part and two side parts which are connected to each other in the corners whereby at least one of both corner connections consists of at least one coupling which is formed by a notch in a first part and a protrusion in the second part working together with this notch, all of which such that the parts can easily be clicked into each other at their corners.

    [0005] In order to show better the characteristics according to the present invention, some preferred embodiments are described hereafter, as examples without any restrictive character, with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which:

    figure 1 shows a radiator with a covering according to the invention;

    figure 2 shows a section according to line II-II in figure 1;

    figure 3 shows the covering of the radiator, more especially in dismantled position and according to arrow F3 in figure 1;

    figure 4 shows the parts from figure 3 in mounted position;

    figures 5 and 6 show sections, respectively according to line V-V and VI-VI in figure 4;

    figure 7 shows a variant of the covering according to a view that is similar to that from figure 3;

    figure 8 shows the parts from figure 7 in mounted position;

    figure 9 shows a section according to line IX-IX in figure 8.

    [0006] In figure 1 a radiator 1 is shown around which a covering 2 according to the invention is installed. This covering 2 hereby consists of three parts, respectively an upper part 3 and two side parts 4. The parts 3 and 4 preferably show bent over edges 5, all of which such that they fit around the heating elements 6 as shown in figure 2.

    [0007] As shown in the figures 3 through 9 the two side parts 4 are connected to the upper part 3 by means of corner connections which consist of at least one coupling 7 which is formed by a notch 8 in the first part, in this case the side part 4 referred to, and a protrusion 9 in the second part, in this case therefore the upper part 3, working together with this notch 8. The notch 8 and the protrusion 9 of each coupling 7 are hereby situated on parts 10 and 11 which can slide along each other.

    [0008] The notches 8 preferably consist of bores, while the protrusions 9 are formed by a local transformation of the material from which the covering is made.

    [0009] In the embodiment according to figure 3 for the corner connection use is made of two couplings 7 which are respectively situated along both sides of a cut out 12 which is applied on top of the side part, whereby these cut outs 12 from a passage for the connection of the radiator 1.

    [0010] The aforementioned parts 11, in which the protrusions 9 are installed, show the form of lips, which are part of the cross cut edge of the upper part 3 directed downward.

    [0011] At least one of both aforementioned parts 10 or 11 is countersunk in relation to the surface formed by the covering, such that the covering shows a flush surface on the outside. In the embodiment according to figure 3 these are the parts 10.

    [0012] The corner connection preferably also shows supporting means which allow that with the sliding together of the upper part 3 and a side part 4 the two parts 10 and 11 clasp into each other. According to the embodiment from figure 3 for this purpose an element 14 is installed on the second part, therefore the upper part 3, that makes contact with the first part, therefore the side part 4, more especially with the side edge 15 of this which is situated opposite on the side 16 which makes contact with the part 11 that has the protrusion 9. This element 14 can for this purpose consist of a lip which is welded against the inside of the edge 13.

    [0013] The installation of the covering 2 is very simple and consists in that first the side parts 4 are placed against the radiator 1, after which the upper part 3 is clicked onto the upper extremities of the side parts 4, more especially as shown in figures 4 through 6.

    [0014] In figure 7 a variant is shown, whereby four couplings 7 are provided on one corner connection, such because of the fact that hereby protrusions 9 are also formed in the aforementioned lip shaped elements 14, which can work together with a second series of notches 8 in the side part 4 in question.

    [0015] In order to facilitate the sliding into each other of the different parts the lower edges 17 of the lip shaped elements 14 are preferably slightly bent over.

    [0016] Through the use of several couplings 7 a strong corner connection is obtained.

    [0017] Figures 8 and 9 show how the different parts, the upper part 3 and the shown side part 4, fit into each other.

    [0018] It is clear that the aforementioned supporting means, formed by the elements 14, are not strictly necessary when, for example as shown in figure 1, the side parts 4 rest against the side edges of the heating elements 6.

    [0019] It is also clear that the notches 8 and the accompanying protrusions 9 can have swapped positions. On the other hand it is also possible that the lip shaped parts 11 are provided on the side parts 4, while the countersunk parts 10 are installed in the edge 13.

    [0020] Obviously the side parts 4 are attached to the radiator 1 to be covered by their lower extremities, and this by means of any type of means of attachment 18.

    [0021] The present invention is in no way restricted to the embodiments described as examples and shown in the attached drawings, but such covering for radiators can be implemented in various forms and embodiments without departing from the scope of the present invention.
