    (54) Improved compact reflector lamp unit construction


    (57) An improved compact reflector lamp unit (10) is disclosed having a construction enabling the length of the reflector bottom portion (20) to be reduced in order to avoid light escape thereat when the lamp unit is installed in existing socket fixtures. An electrically non-conductive hollow sleeve (22) physically connects the bottom portion of the reflector member to a hollow metal base (14) for this purpose. Various lamp embodiments employing such modified structural configurations are also described.
