    (54) Dentist chair with an earpiece sound diffusion system

    (57) A dentist chair (1) comprises a sound diffusion system, of the earpiece type, comprising a compact disct (CD) player, or a music-cassette player (3), therewith an amplifier and sound level adjusting unit (4) cooperates, the sound diffusion system being associated with the dentist chair (1) so that the earpieces (6) are arranged on two sides of a headrest (8) of the chair (1).

    Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a dentist chair provided with an earpiece sound diffusion system.

[0002] As is known a dentist chair is usually so designed as to generate a fear sensation in the patients.

[0003] Also known is the fact that a further fear sensation is generated by the noise of drill, milling cutter and the like rotary tools which are conventionally used by the dentist for the care of a patient teeth.

    SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] Thus, the aim of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned drawbacks by providing a dentist chair which is provided with means for reducing the fear sensation of a patient waiting for the operation of a dentist or subjected to such an operation.

[0005] Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the present invention is to provide such a dentist chair provided with means adapted to divert a patient attention from the operation being carried on his/her teeth.

[0006] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a dentist chair which can be easily constructed, at a competitive cost, starting from easily available elements and materials.

[0007] According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a dentist chair characterized in that said chair comprises an earpiece sound diffusion system including a compact disc (CD) or music-cassette player, therewith an amplifier and sound level adjusting unit cooperates, said system being associated with said chair so that the earpieces are arranged at the two sides of a headrest of said chair.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING

[0008] Further characteristics and advantages of the dentist chair according to the present invention will become more apparent from the following disclosure of a preferred embodiment thereof, which is illustrated, by way of an indicative but not limitative example, in the figures of the accompanying drawing, where:

Figure 1 is a schematic side view of the dentist chair according to the present invention; and

Figure 2 is a rear view of the backrest of the dentist chair according to the invention.

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0009] With reference to the figures of the accompanying drawing, the dentist chair according to the invention, which has been overally indicated at the reference number 1, comprises, at the rear surface of its backrest member 2, a compact disc (CD) or music-cassette player 3, therewith an amplifying and sound level adjusting central unit 4 cooperates.

[0010] At the output of the player apparatus there are arranged two small cables 5 connected to corresponding earpieces 6, whereas a further shielded small cable 7 connects the apparatus to the mentioned central unit.

[0011] As shown, the end portions of the above mentioned electric cables are anchored on the two sides of an headrest element 8, so that the lengths of said cables can be adjusted depending on the position assumed by the ears of a patient.

[0012] Thus, as the patient seats on the subject chair, he/she can advantageously plug in the two earpieces in the ears so as to listen a desired music piece to divert the patient attention from the dentist operations.

[0013] More specifically, the music being heard will divert the patient attention from the noise of the dentist tools such as a mill cutter or drill implement.

[0014] From the above disclosure and the figures of the accompanying drawing it should be apparent that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.

[0015] While the invention has been disclosed and illustrated with reference to a preferred embodiment thereof, it should be apparent that the disclosed embodiment is susceptible to several modifications and variations all of which will come within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

    Claims

    1. A dentist chair, characterized in that said chair comprises an earpiece sound diffusion system including a compact disc (CD) or music-cassette player, therewith an amplifier and sound level adjusting unit cooperates, said system being associated with said chair so that the earpieces are arranged at the two sides of a headrest of said chair.

    2. A dentist chair according to claim 1, characterized in that said compact disc or music-cassette player is arranged on a rear surface of a backrest element of said dentist chair.

    3. A dentist chair according to the preceding claims, characterized in that said player has an output to which there are coupled two electric cables associated with corresponding earpieces, as well as a further electric shielded cable connecting the player to said unit.

    4. A dentist chair according to the preceding claims, characterized in that the end portions of said electric cables are anchored on the two sides of said headrest so that the lengths of said cables can be adjusted depending on the position assumed by the ears of the patient.
