[0001] The present invention relates to a liftable board for poster advertising, especially
for the installation on motor vehicles
[0002] The importance of the advertising in the modern life is known to everyone. It is
also recognized that the effectiveness of an advertising notice is due to besides
its inherent validity also its spreading, i.e. number of people catching its sight.
[0003] Considering that motor cars running both in the city traffic and on the country roads
are naturally a very good advertising vehicle, because the carried advertising notice
quickly reaches a lot of people, it is believed that the installation of suitable
advertising means on motor vehicles increases the effectiveness thereof.
[0004] Furthermore the installation on motor vehicles allows the advertising notice to be
exploited in the best way since it is brought from time to time to people meeting
places such as for example public entertainments, sport meetings and the like.
[0005] Finally it is also possible to bring even temporarily the advertising notices to
places where the sticking up of an advertising poster is usually not allowed.
[0006] Therefore an advertising means is devised which is brought to meeting points of a
lot of people so that it can display its advertising notice to the greatest number
of people. This is achieved by lifting means raising upwards the advertising notice
from an usually lowered position.
[0007] Thus the present application provides a board adapted to carry an advertising notice
written on a support which can vertically move from a lowered position to a raised
position.
[0008] According to an alternative embodiment the liftable board consists of a table which
can be the side wall of industrial vehicles or be mounted alone or in combination
with another panel on the platform of such vehicles.
[0009] In such embodiment the board has a box-like construction with an inner room which
is illuminated and in which an endless belt (like a conveyor belt) carrying the advertising
notice is placed. The belt is passed around two rollers one of which is motor-driven
so that the endless belt can run behind a window of the box-like board, thus being
visible to the outside.
[0010] The invention will be now described into detail with reference to the annexed drawing,
in which:
Fig. 1 shows schematically the board mounted on a vehicle;
Fig. 2 is an elevation view of the rear part of the moving board of the present application;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the board;
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the shining board according to an alternative embodiment;
Fig. 5 is a side elevation view; and
Fig. 6 is a section along line VI-VI of Fig. 5.
[0011] With reference to Fig. 1 the support frame has a stationary mounting formed of two
tubes 1A, 1B connected by two cross members indicated at 2 and 3 and several support
brackets for fastening the tubes to the vehicle. Integral with the lower cross member
3 is a plate 5 having a crank 6 provided with a ratchet gear formed of a gear wheel
7 integral with the crank shaft 8 and a pawl 9 mounted on plate 5.
[0012] Idle-mounted on the upper cross member 2 are a pair of pulleys 10, and two further
pairs of idle pulleys designated by 11 and 12, respectively, are mounted on the lower
cross member 3.
[0013] As shown in Fig 2, two cables 13 and 14 are wound about the cylindrical shaft 8 of
the crank and the three pairs of pulleys. Cable 13 has its ends 15 connected to a
bracket 16 integral with the moving frame 22, and the ends 18 of cable 14 are connected
in the same way to a bracket 19 integral with the other end of said frame.
[0014] The moving board generally designated by numeral 20 is formed of two cylindrical
rods 21A and 21B and a flat portion 22 connected to rods 21A and 21B by means of two
pairs of lugs designated by 22A and 22B, respectively;
[0015] In operation, as soon as vehicle VC has reached the place of destination board PL
is raised by means of crank 6 from the rest position shown in Fig. 1 by dashed lines
to the lifted position shown by solid lines. The raising of the board allows the carried
advertising notice, for example consisting of posters, messages and the like to be
seen also at a distance.
[0016] Although the invention has been described with reference to industrial vehicles,
it is evident that it can also be installed on vehicle of different type.
[0017] In figs. 4 and 5, in which numerals have been increased by 100, the alternative shining
board 101 has a front wall 102 provided with a large window 103 closed by a sheet
104 of transparent or translucent material, a rear wall 105, a top wall 106, a bottom
wall 107 and two end walls 108 and 109.
[0018] Attached to wall 102 is a frame having two rugged plates 110 each carrying an upper
lug designated by 111 and a lower lug designated by 112, into wich the shafts of the
upper roller 113 and the lower roller 114 are inserted.
[0019] Furthermore plates 110 also bears end brackets 115A, 115B, 115C of lampholders 116A,
116B, 116C, respectively, forming along with the respective lamps the above mentioned
lighting system.
[0020] In Fig. 4 lampholder 116B is shown in exploded view
[0021] Passed around rollers 113 and 114 is an endless belt 118 of a suitable plastic, non-opaque
material carrying the advertising notice or images to be displayed through sheet 104
which closes window 103.
[0022] Lower roller 114 is driven by motor 119 having a speed reducer and a set of electro-mechanical
timing relays provided with cams and switches for timing and coordinating in a known
manner the movement of tape 118 with the lighting of the lamps carried by lampholders
116A, 116B and 116C.
[0023] It should be appreciated that due to such timing assembly the lighting units can
be lighted alternately, coordinately and/or at the same time.
