Shoe and sole structure with fluid filled inserts |
(57) A shoe is comprised of an upper and a sole structure attached to the upper. The sole
structure has an outsole and a midsole. The outsole has an upper surface, a lower
surface and sidewalls extending upwardly from at least a portion of the upper surface.
The sidewalls and the portion of the outsole extending between the sidewalls are made
of a clear material, and the midsole includes a fluid-filled insert, which is positioned
in alignment with the clear material to provide visibility of the bottom and sides
of the fluid-filled insert. The fluid-filled insert is positioned by a series of longitudinally
and transversely extending grooves formed in the upper surface of the outsole, with
lands positioned between the transversely extending grooves which engage with corresponding
recesses formed on the lower surface of the insert.
