(57) s7 . A visual display has a flicker frequency which is higher than a critical flicker
fusion frequency for central vision so that, when viewed directly, no flicker is discernable.
The flicker frequency is less than a critical flicker fusion frequency for peripheral
vision so that flicker is at least subliminally apparent in the peripheral vision
in order to attract attention to the display. A suitable flicker frequency for many
purposes is 75 Hz.
