An apparatus for compacting ground and/or pressing down paving elements |
| (57) An apparatus (1) for compacting ground and/or pressing down paving elements, comprising
:
- a plate (2);
- means (3) for vibrating driving of said plate (2); and
- a covering layer (6) fixed over substantial areas to the side of the plate (2) making
contact with the ground and/or the paving element.
|
|
[0001] Apparatus for compacting ground and pressing down paving elements is used on a large
scale, e.g. in the technical field of road building and street paving.
[0002] Such apparatus causes inconvenience for the users as well as nuisance for those in
the vicinity on account of the vibrations transmitted to the user and the noise resulting
from these movements.
[0003] Further it is known to secure a plastic sheet to a vibrating plate by means of bolts.
As this sheet is only connected onto the plate at certain spots, this sheet will also
vibrate and will come loose from the plate, such as to create even more noise then
without such a plastic sheet.
[0004] The present invention has for its object to improve upon known apparatus and provides
an apparatus for compacting ground and/or pressing down paving elements, comprising
:
- a plate;
- means for vibrating driving of said plate; and
- a covering layer fixed over substantial areas to the side of the plate making contact
with the ground and/or the paving element.
[0005] Preferably the covering layer is fixed to the plate by vulcanizing or is glued fixedly
thereto.
[0006] Further features, details and advantages of the present invention will be elucidated
with reference to the annexed figure, in which a preferred embodiment of the present
invention is shown in perspective.
[0007] An apparatus 1 for compacting ground and/or pressing down paving elements is provided
with a plate 2 in addition to schematically designated and generally known driving
means 3 for this plate. In addition the apparatus 1 is provided with an arm 4 on both
sides of which a hand-grip 5 is arranged for a user.
[0008] Arranged on the plate 6 is a covering layer for damping the vibrations. This has
advantages with respect to ambient noise and also for the user, who will be subjected
to less vibration.
[0009] Also of advantage is that there is less chance of paving elements being damaged by
the apparatus 1.
[0010] Preferably the covering layer is of polyurethane and is 'cast', moulded or vulcanized
fixedly to the metal plate.
[0011] For such vulcanisation a mould is used and the polyurethane is integrated with the
plate under predetermined temperature and in an atmosphere precisely defined.
1. An apparatus for compacting ground and/or pressing down paving elements, comprising
:
- a plate;
- means for vibrating driving of said plate; and
- a covering layer fixed over substantial areas to the side of the plate making contact
with the ground and/or the paving element.
2. An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the covering layer is manufactured
from vulcanizable, rubbery material and the covering layer is fixed to the plate by
means of vulcanizing.
3. An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the covering layer is manufactured
from a plate of plastic and is glued fixedly to the plate.
