    (54) Method and apparatus for continuously packaging bottles or the like in packaging bags

    (57) Packaging bags for bottles made of heat shrinking film and packaging bottles utilizing the bags can be prepared continuously with elimination of labor, good efficiency and good quality by from a long film sheet.
In the method of preparation of the packaging bags, a scrap piece formed at the closed end of the bag is discharged by mechanical methods. In one method, a long cylindrical film sheet is fed to the apparatus so as to place the portion of the film sheet forming the open end of the bag at the top and both sides of the scrap piece are cut and separated simultaneously. In another method, a long cylindrical film sheet is fed to the apparatus so as to place the portion of the film sheet forming the scrap piece at the top and scrap piece and periphery of closed end of the bag are cut simultaneously.
In the method of preparation of the packaging bottles, fitting of the packaging bag to the bottle is performed smoothly and automatically by widely opening the open end of the packaging bag by utilizing vacuum pads, inserting the bottle with a rod into the open end of the bag by utilizing a flapper, allowing partial heat shrinking of the bag for temporary fitting of the bag to the bottle and then tightly fitting the bag to the bottle by heating.
