OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention, according to that expressed on the title of this descriptive
report, is related to an improved closure for bottles, fundamentally applicable to
that type of stopper formed by threaded capsules mounted over the corresponding bottle
mouth, the said bottle destined to contain liquid products.
[0002] In the invention the closure presents the particularity of creating a totally leak-proof
medium to prevent liquid escape, even after successive openings.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The bottles, containers of liquids, whatever their nature be, must incorporate totally
leak-proof means of closure preventing escape of the liquid contained.
[0004] Normal bottle closures, that have to be opened and closed many times are based on
a capsule, normally of a plastic material, which threads onto the bottle mouth. The
leak-tightness is obtained in several ways; in some cases by means of flexible and/or
elastic elements adapting to any irregularity or misalignment. The former elements
can include washers, cork or plastic material disks functioning as a seal. In other
cases, some rings or tubular divisions are mounted in the bottom of the capsule and
adapt to the rim of the bottle mouth as if they were tongues.
[0005] In the case of using washers or cork or plastic disks as means of leak-tightness
in the bottles, it is unquestionable that these washers or disks form very simple,
easily mounted and economic assemblies, since they only have to be placed at the bottom
of the capsule. Now then, the insignificant space available at the zone of contact
with the end of the bottle does not guarantee total leak-tightness, the problem being
stressed the narrower or more reduced the thickness of the division corresponding
to the bottle-neck. In fact, the material employed to obtain the washers or disks
referred to must be sufficiently soft to adapt to the irregularities, but also sufficiently
resistent to support the unitary pressure suffered, which is considerable, due to
the insignificant surface presented at the end of the bottle.
[0006] In the case of using rings or tubular divisions, although they provide sufficient
leak-tightness in the closure, it is unquestionable that they make the mould and the
attainment of the stopper more expensive.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0007] In the invention, the closure is conceived to obtain total leak-tightness to prevent
liquid escaping, even though the bottle is opened many times and the former being
based on an extremely simple structure, resolving the problems and disadvantages presented
by conventional closures.
[0008] In this way, the closure, object of the invention, presents as a fundamental characteristic,
the inclusion of a discoidal assembly of flexible material having a diametre greater
than the bottom of the corresponding capsule which is applied by threading over the
bottle-neck, such that when it is seated over the latter the disk oversizing will
create a semi-enveloping with respect to the upper and external edge of the bottle-neck.
In this way, all possibility of escape is eliminated and besides, a greater protection
of the bottle against possible blows is obtained, due to this interposed flexible
element which reduces breakage risks.
[0009] To complement the description which is going to be made in continuation and with
the object of permitting a greater understanding of the characteristics of the invention,
a single drawing is attached to the present descriptive report. The former will help
the novelties and advantages of the closure, object of the invention, to be more easily
understood.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
[0010] The only figure.- Shows a perspective according to a lateral projection, with section
at 1/4, of the closure, object of the invention, applied over a conventional bottle
neck.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED METHOD OF USE
[0011] Regarding the figure, it can be observed how the closure, object of the invention,
applicable to capsules (1) mounted by threading over the corresponding bottle-neck
(2) destined to contain a liquid, presents the particularity that the bottom (3) of
this capsule (1) incorporates in an independent manner, a discoidal assembly (4) of
flexible material, whose diametre is significantly greater than the internal diametre
of the referred bottom (3) of the capsule (1).
[0012] In this way, the mentioned disk (4) constitutes an adjustable and semi-enveloping
element with respect to the upper or external edge (5) of the bottle neck, such that
as the assembly diametre (4) is greater than the internal diametre of the bottom (3),
and therefore, greater than the external diametre of the mouth or bottle-neck, it
is unquestionable that the said disk (4) will externally adapt itself, increasing
the closure surface, hence eliminating possibilities of escape. In turn a greater
protection in this area or upper edge (5) of the neck will be obtained against possible
blows, since a flexible element, formed by the salient part of the disk (4) remains
interposed, hence reducing breakage risks.
[0013] It just remains to say that this new closure is highly beneficial with respect to
those currently existing, since it simplifies the study of materials to be employed
and increases the possibilities, due the fact that the balance between flexibility
and resistance is no longer so critical.
