BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a multiple warp and weft yarn Jacquard fabric for
furnishings.
[0002] As is known, in the furnishings field are advantageously used the so-called "Jacquard"
fabrics, which are adapted to provide desired colour effects, and which are made by
suitably weaving warp and weft yarns.
[0003] A typical example of such a fabric is the so-called "Gobelin" fabric, the characteristic
"stitch" of which is made by using a plurality of warp bodies and three different
weft yarns, one of which (the so-called small weft) has a well-defined part in forming
the fabric weaving.
[0004] However, prior furnishings fabrics have a typical "granular" aspect which accelerates
the wear of these fabrics upon rubbing.
[0005] Moreover, by using conventional fabric forming methods and systems, it is not possible
to quickly modify the pattern to be obtained on a Jacquard type of fabric and the
chromatic effect of said pattern.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned
drawbacks, by providing a Jacquard type of fabric which is provided with a very high
resistance against rubbing wear.
[0007] Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the present invention
is to provide such a Jacquard type fabric which also includes antifire characteristics.
[0008] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such a Jacquard type fabric,
for furnishings application, which can be easily made with two different colour variations.
[0009] According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects,
as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved
by a Jacquard-type of fabric, for furnishings applications, of the type including
a plurality of warp bodies and weft yarns, characterized in that said fabric is made
by weaving two weft yarns with five warp bodies.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010] Further characteristics and advantages of the Jacquard-type of fabric according to
the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following disclosure
of a preferred, though not exclusive, embodiment of said fabric, the warp pattern
whereof is illustrated, by way of a merely indicative example, in the figures of the
accompanying drawing where:
Figure 1 illustrates the weaving of the bottom of a Jacquard-type of fabric according
to the present invention; and
Figures 2 and 3 respectively show a possible pattern of the fabric according to the
present invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0011] With reference to the figures of the accompanying drawing, the Jacquard-type fabric
according to the present invention, which has been generally indicated at the reference
number 1, can be made, according to the invention, by using two weft yarns only, respectively,
a bottom weft yarn 2 and an operating weft yarn 3.
[0012] With the mentioned weft yarns 2 and 3 there are woven two bottom warp bodies 4 and
5 and three operating or coloured warp bodies 6, 7 and 8 having different colours,
such as, for example, a red, blue and gold colour.
[0013] In this connection it should be pointed out that there are, at least preferably,
provided 68.6 yarns/cm with 11x2 insertions/cm.
[0014] In a thus made fabric, the chromatic effects are practically obtained by only two
weft yarns, thereby the overall weaving is closer to a so-called "double face" structure
than a "Gobelin" structure, as it should be apparent to one skilled in the art from
the drawing.
[0015] Thus, the fabric according to the invention, while preserving a granular aspect which
is typical of a "Gobelin" weaving, is characterized by a particularly smooth surface,
which can not be obtained from a conventional prior "Gobelin" weaving, which is, on
the contrary, characterized by its typical "stitch".
[0016] The thus obtained fabric weaving, in particular, while providing the fabric with
an aesthetical aspect like that of a "Gobelin" fabric, also provides novel characteristics
which could not be obtained from a prior "Gobelin" weaving.
[0017] In particular, a fabric made according to the invention, has a very high rubbing
wear resistance, since the fabric has a substantially "smooth" weaving surface.
[0018] Moreover, by using antifire weft yarns, it is also possible to provide a fabric having
satisfactory antifire characteristics.
[0019] Such a characteristic, in particular, is due to a good "balancing" obtained in a
warp/weft covering, which is typical of the subject weaving.
[0020] In this connection it is be furthermore pointed out that different colour variations
can be easily made by exclusively changing the weft colours and with only two base
chains (one for the clear variations and the other for the dark variations).
[0021] The fabric according to the invention is moreover very competitive, from a mere economic
standpoint, with respect to prior fabric for furnishings applications made by conventional
methods.
[0022] From the above disclosure it should be apparent that the invention fully achieves
the intended aim and objects.
[0023] While the invention has been disclosued and illustrated with reference to a preferred
embodiment thereof, it should be apparent that the disclosed embodiment is susceptible
to several modifications and variations all of which will come within thhe spirit
and scope of the appended claims.
1. A Jacquard-type of fabric, for furnishings applications, of the type including a plurality
of warp bodies and weft yarns, characterized in that said fabrics is made by weaving
two weft yarns with five warp bodies.
2. A Jacquard-type fabric, according to Claim 1, characterized in that said fabric comprises
two weft yarns, that is a bottom weft yarn and an operating weft yarn, therewith there
are woven two bottom warp bodies and three coloured warp bodies having different colours.
3. A fabric according to Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that said fabric comprises
68.6 yarns/cm with 11x2 insertions/cm.
4. A fabric according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said
weft yarns comprise antifire weft yarns.
