    (54) Coin storage control system and method for vending machines

    (57) A coin storage control system and method for vending machines is disclosed. The system includes a coin discriminating device (2), a coin storing device (3) and a coin storage control unit (100). The coin storage control unit (100) sets an initial retention number for each type of coin to be initially stored. The coin storage control unit (100) further sets a maximum retention number determined by adding a predetermined number to the initial retention number. In response to the number of coins stored in the coin storing device (3) reaching the maximum retention number, the coin storage control unit (100) sends a signal to the coin discriminating device (2) to send deposited coins to a cash box (4). The number of coins stored in the coin storing device (3) is controlled to be not greater than the maximum retention number. The operation of coin collection from the coin storing device (3) can be performed in a relatively short period of time by setting the maximum retention number to an appropriate value.
