    (57) A recording apparatus comprises transporting rollers (2a,2b) for transporting a recording medium (1) in a sandwiched state; a platen (3) for supporting the recording medium (1) at a recording position; and a releasing mechanism (5) for moving the platen (3) from a position at which the platen is located during a recording operation and releasing the recording medium (1) sandwiched by the transporting rollers (2a,2b).
