    (54) Sheet feeding mechanism for a recording apparatus


    (57) There are provided for a sheet feeding device and a recording apparatus using such a sheet feeding device according to the preserit invention, a feed mechanism for feeding a sheet material (2); a guide mechanism (1c) for guiding the end portions of the foregoing sheet material (2), which is shiftable in the width direction of the sheet material; and a discharge mechanism (5) for discharging the foregoing sheet material (2) being fed, which is capable of changing its positions in accordance with the shift of the foregoing guide mechanism (1c); hence making it possible to prevent any possible smudges to be caused by rollers, spurs, or the like when the recorded sheet (2) is being discharged. In this way, image recording can be performed without degrading the recording quality.
