(57) A printing apparatus includes a vibrating wave drive which cooperates with a vibratory rail (8) in which support bases (8c,9a) are provided to only the two end portions of a vibrating rail (8), and the rail (9) is fixed on a third bottom plate (10c) via the bases (8c,9a), so that a portion, excluding the two end portions, of the vibrating rail (8) extends over a moving path of a sheet. Support bases are also provided to only the two end portions of a carriage guide rail (9), and the rail (9) is fixed on the third bottom plate via the bases, so that a portion, excluding the two end portions, of the carriage guide rail (9) extends over the moving path of a sheet.
