    (54) Transfer type ink jet printer


    (57) A transfer type ink jet printer includes an ink jet recording head (2) for jetting ink droplets according to recording data, an elastically deformable ink image holder such as a drum (1) or belt for receiving ink droplets jetted from the ink jet recording head (2), and a push roller (3) movable to and from the ink image holding means, the speed of rotation of which is so set that it slips on the ink image holder with a nipping pressure applied to the latter, whereby an ink image on the ink image holding means can be positively transferred onto a recording sheet P irrespective of the degree of dryness of the ink.
