    (54) Method and apparatus for reducing size of particulate solids in fluid medium


    (57) The particle size of solids, particularly of solids such as drill cuttings, recovered from a subterranean wellbore is reduced by pumping (18) the solids in a fluid medium from a tank (12) through a choke (30) to impinge on a surface (52) thereby abruptly retarding movement of the solids to thereby induce breakage or grinding thereof.
