    (54) Method and system for controlling the spark frequency of a multispark ignition system

    (57) Method of burning-up the fuel mixture wherein its inflamation by feeding electromagnetic pulses into the fuel mixture is characterized in that the pulses frequency is altered relating to the breakdown voltage of the fuel mixture improving the effectiveness of the combustion process and completness of fuel burning-up and decrease of the toxicity of the combustion products.

    Description

[0001] The invention relates to the energetics and may be used in the systems of ignation and control of the process of burning-up the fuel mixtures, in particularly, in the internal combustion engines.
It is known the methods of burning-up the fuel mixture wherein its inflamation is effected by feeding the high-frequency pulses to the electrodes, connected to the secondary winding of the ignition coil.
It is known also the system of ignition providing for forming the high-frequency voltage pulses in the interelectrode gap, comprising the current source, ignition coil, electronic switch, connected with the primary winding of the ignition coil, pulse generator, output thereof is connected with the electronic switch, and at least one sparking plug.

[0002] The drawback of the above mentioned methods and device is that they don't provide for sufficient complete combustion of fuel and decrease of toxicity level of combustion products, because at the forming of the high-frequency pulses of ignition the changes of the parameters of the fuel mixture in the process of its burning-up are not taken into account.
The object of the invention is the improvement of the effectiveness of the combustion process and completeness of fuel burning-up and decrease of the toxicity of the combustion products.

[0003] The object is achieved by the method of burning-up the fuel mixture, wherein its inflamation by feeding the high frequency voltage pulses to the electrodes, connected to the secondary winding of voltage, and in the process of burning-up the air fuel mixture the frequency of voltage pulses is altered in relation to the breakdown voltage of the burning fuel mixture.
The shaper of the feedback signal, input thereof is connected with the point of connection of the ignition coil with the electronic switch and output is connected with the second input of pulse generator is introduced into the ignition system of the embodyment of this method, comprising current source, ignition coil, electronic switch, connected with the primary winding of the ignition coil, pulse generator, output thereof is connected with the electronic switch, and, at least, one sparking plug.

[0004] The figure presents the functioning scheme of the ignition system for embodyment of the suggested method of burning-up the air fuel mixture.

[0005] Ignition system comprises current source 1, ignition coil 2, electronic switch 3, connected with the primary winding of the ignition coil 2, pulse generator 4, the output thereof is connected with the electronic switch 3, shaper of the ignition moment 5, connected with the first input of the pulse generator 4, shaper of the feedback signal 6, input thereof is connected with the point of connection of coil ignition 2 with electronic switch 3 and output is connected with the second input of pulse generator 4 and sparking plug 7, connected with the secondary winding of thr ignition coil 2. The shaper of the feedback signal is made up, for instance, as serially connected resistor and condenser.

[0006] The system of ignition operates as follows:
The shaper of the ignition moment 5 synchronously to the frequency of the drive shaft rotation (is not shown in the figure) starts up the pulse generator for a period of time inversely proportional to the speed of the drive shaft rotation. Pulse generator 4 formates pulses putting into action the electronic switch 3 commutating the electric current in the primary winding of the ignition coil 2 with the frequency of pulse sequency as a result pulses of high voltage are induced in the secondary circuit of the ignition coil, providing for electrical discharges between electrodes of the sparking plug.
As a result of interaction of plasma of the burning fuel with electromagnetic field in the vicinity of the electrodes of the sparking plug, frequency parameters of the secondary circuit of the ignition coil are changed, that, in its turn, causes the current alteration in the secondary and primary windings of the ignition coil.

[0007] The current value causes by the alterations of the parameters of the burning environment in the vicinity of the electrodes of the sparking plug is transformed in the shaper of the feedback signal 6 into control signal, adjusting the pulse frequency, generated by the pulse generator 4, and, consequently, the frequency of the electrical discharges on the sparking plug 7. Owing to the suggested method it is provided the automatic control of the process of ignition the air- fuel mixture, its stable burning and optimization of the rates of chemical reactions, that promotes the efectiveness of the burning-up processes and completness of the burning-up and reduction of toxicity of the combustion products.
