[0001] The invention relates to an assembly as described in the preamble of claim 1. Furthermore,
the invention relates to a hook as described in the preamble of claim 6.
[0002] An assembly for suspending objects such as prints is known among others from EP-A-0183325.
[0003] In EP-A-0183325 a suspension system is disclosed, comprising an upper and a lower
block-shaped hook, the upper block hook being substantially inverted U-shaped so as
to be hooked with the thus formed channel or groove to an upright wall portion of
a suspension rail or the upper edge of a panel. The block-shaped hook is further provided
with a vertical passage for a wire, as well as with a further passage extending perpendicularly
to that passage, which is provided with a screw thread and in which a socket screw
can be screwed to secure the wire in its position in the passage.
[0004] An assembly and a hook of the kind described in the preambles of claims 1 and 6 are
known from DE-U-7917482. This known assembly comprises upper and lower, substantially
C-shaped hooks, whereby the upper hook can be hooked to a suspension rail and the
lower hook, which is connected to the upper hook by means of a wire, can be hooked
to the object. The C-shaped hooks are provided with open grooves through which the
wire can extend. At its lower end and at its upper end the wire is provided with anchoring
blocks of a dimension such that they cannot move through the above mentioned grooves
and can thus secure the wire relative to the respective hooks. In order to more or
less fix the position of the anchoring blocks with respect to the C-shaped hooks,
the legs of the C-shaped hooks which are provided with grooves are V-shaped so that
the anchoring blocks can be accommodated therein in an inclined way. The cube-shaped
anchoring blocks will here assume such a position that their lower and upper face,
respectively, will end up being positioned at an angle of approximately 45° with the
horizontal. At the position of exit from the block the wire, which extends through
the blocks and is secured therein with the help of a screw, will undergo a change
of direction of 45° and will rest there against the opening edge of the passage in
the block. Here there is a danger that in the course of time the wire will be cut
there, possibly resulting in failure of the wire, the further consequence being that
the object falls down.
[0005] It is an object of the invention to provide an assembly of the type named in the
preamble, whereby the elongated member is at least with its upper end secured in an
anchoring block, which can be securely hooked into the hook, without there being an
increased risk of failure of the elongated member.
[0006] For this purpose the invention provides an assembly and a hook as described in claims
1 and 6, resp.
[0007] The lower hook-shaped portion, which is at least intended For securing the elongated
member, is preferably substantially U-shaped, the supporting means being formed by
the base thereof. The lower hook-shaped portion is preferably straight U-shaped, the
anchoring block being substantially straight parallelpiped shaped and the receiving
space extending perpendicularly to at least one of the faces of the anchoring block.
[0008] The anchoring block is preferably fittingly accommodated in the lower hook-shaped
portion.
[0009] The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to two exemplary
embodiments shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 shows an assembly according to the invention.
[0010] In fig. 1 a wall panel 1 is schematically shown, which is provided with an upper
edge 2. A double hook 3 is placed on and around the upper edge 2, the upper inverted
U-shaped part with wall parts 4, 5 and 6 resting on three sides against the upper
edge of the panel 1. The width of the base of the upper U-shaped hook part corresponds
here with the width of the upper edge 2, so that the hook 3 is secured against rotation
in the vertical plane, its wall part 6 being in surface-to-surface contact with the
front surface 15 of the panel 1. The hook 3 comprises further a lower hook part, which
is formed by the wall parts 6, 7 and 8, which together define a U-shape with right-angled
corners. At its centre the base of the U-form, formed by the wall part 7, is provided
with a round hole 10.
[0011] The lower end (not shown) of the suspension wire 14 can be provided with a hook or
a loop onto which the object to be displayed can be suspended.
[0012] The upper end of the wire 14 is accomodated in the vertical passage 12 in the cube-shaped
anchoring block 9. The anchoring block 9 is further provided with a threaded passage
11, which opens perpendicularly into the passage 12 and is suitable for receiving
a socket screw 13. By screwing the socket screw into the passage 11 in the direction
B the upper end of the wire 14 is secured in the passage 12.
[0013] If, when installing, the lower end of the wire 14 does not form a permanent loop,
the wire 14 is preferably led with its lower end from above through the hole 10 in
the direction A up to the anchoring block 9, that is securely fastened beforehand
at the upper end of the wire 14, accomodated in a snugly fitting way in the U-shaped,
lower part of the hook 3. The anchoring block is then securely fastened against sliding
and, because the passage 12 is aligned with the hole 10 and the remaining part of
the wire 14, the wire 14 will not be subjected to any notch effect.
[0014] It will be clear that with the hook embodiment the upper inverted U-shaped portion
can be replaced by a differently formed hook-shaped portion, if the form of the suspension
rail or the upper edge of the panel necessitate this for a secure attachment.
