(57) A method for making through holes includes bringing a leather pressing member (12) in contact with an article (21) where the holes are to be made. Then a cutting tool (7) is imparted a movement perpendicular to the surface of the article (21), so as to go out of the pressing member (12). At the same time the cutting tool (7) is also imparted a rotation. Therefore the cutting tool (7) performs a combined rotational-translation motion.
