FIELD AND BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a packing system and more particularly to a system
suitable for handling and packing and for transport of liquids, and transport and
storage in bulk of such products as chemicals or foodstuffs.
[0002] There is known a container for transportation of liquids or material in bulk which
is a "one-way" container, namely disposable or collapsable suitable for shipping by
road, rail or sea. Such containers are usually handled by conventionally used equipment
such as forklifts, hand trucks, conveyors, etc. The type and advantage of such packing
is well known in the trade and does not need further elaboration.
[0003] The above container is made of strong flexible material and is of cylindrical configuration.
Usually it is placed on top of a wooden pallet for easy handling, from the four corners
of said pallet extend four upright poles which support the container and which are
inter-connected giving rigidity to the structure.
[0004] As stated before, the advantages of the above packing and shipment system are many,
however due to the fact that the container which is cylindrical is placed on a square
pallet, a considerable space is lost between two or four adjacent pallets when placed
side by side.
OBJECTS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[0005] Accordingly, it is the object of the present invention to provide a packing system
for like use which wild make maximal use of the storing and shipping space.
[0006] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a packing system which
would enable to be disposed or re-used.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0007] According to the invention there is provided a container of rectangular configuration
which is placed on a corresponding rectangular pallet at which at least one pole is
located at approximately the middle of each of the four sides of said pallets, connecting
means being provided to connect the free, upper ends of said poles.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0008] The invention will now be described with reference to the annexed drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective illustration of the packing and storing system according to
the invention, while
Fig. 2 shows a practical embodiment thereof.
[0009] Turning first to Fig. 1, a rectangular container 1 made of flexible material is placed
on top of pallet 2. Approximately, in the middle of each of the four sides of said
pallet a pole 3 is fixedly positioned. The free end of said pole 3 extends slightly
over container 1. Near to said free end ropes 4 are fixed connecting two opposing
poles. The container may be filled with any kind of produce and shipped by any known
means of transportation. Due to its relatively low cost, the pallets and containers
are disposable.
[0010] The configuration illustrated in Fig. 2 is the same as the one described above, however
two poles 3 are provided in any of the four sides of pal let 2. It is of course within
the scope of the invention to provide 3 or 4 or more poles when so required by the
size or weight of the pallets and containers. In that case vicinal poles may be inter-connected
by ropes in addition to connection between opposite poles said connecting means could
be as stated, ropes or belts or a rigid cross like member.
[0011] Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs,
those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility
of the claims and accordingly, such reference signs do not have any limiting effect
on the scope of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
1. A container of rectangular configuration which is placed on a corresponding rectangular
pallet at which at least one pole is located at approximately the middle of each of
the four sides of said pallets, connecting means being provided to connect the free,
upper ends of said poles.
2. A container as claimed in claim 1 where said poles are inserted into a cavity in said
pallet.
3. A container as claimed in claim 1 where said poles are fixedly attached to said pallet.
4. A container as claimed in claim 1 where said connecting means are adjustable belts.
5. A container as claimed in claim 1 where said connecting means is a cross like rigid
member.
