OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The object of this invention is a security top for roller shutters used to make it
more difficult to lift the roller shutter from the outside, thus preventing the access
of strangers to the premises, which has, as a specific feature, the manufacture of
part of its structure with plastic material in order to avoid marking and wear of
the roller slats due to contact with the profile and strap that constitute the security
top.
[0002] The assembly of the elements constituting the top is furthermore optimized through
the forming of a plastic part on which are defined the shapes of two of its elements,
being one of them the fastener that is configured in the position prior to the coupling
together of the parts that make up the security top.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The roller shutter security tops used up to know are essentially fitted with a flexible
strap associated through one of its ends to the tubular axis of the roller shutter
through the use of lugs that are fitted into the shaft openings prepared for that
purpose and having at its other end a housing inside which a wing of the profile used
to support the upper slat of the roller shutter turns freely.
[0004] The strap is made of extremely flexible metallic material that allows it to be bent
when the roller shutter remains wound upon its tubular shaft.
[0005] Whenever the roller shutter is fully unwound the upper slat of the shutter remains
attached to the tubular shaft through the strap. In this situation, whenever an attempt
is made to lift the shutter from the outside by lifting its lower slat, the upper
slat effects a pushing force against the profile, which determines in its upward displacement
the curving of the strap in the same direction, preventing the shutter slats from
moving towards the roller, avoiding their winding movement and, consequently, making
it impossible for the roller shutter to be lifted.
[0006] The use of metallic profiles and straps determines that, on winding a roller shutter
with slats made of plastic or metallic material, said slats are marked upon entering
in contact with the profile and the strap, causing the slats to suffer marking and
wear.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0007] This invention consists on a roller shutter security top which objective is to prevent
the wear of the slats through the adoption of a profile made of plastic material attachable
to the coupling plastic element injected upon the strap, being both parts configured
in such a way that they may be joined together by a fastener moulded on the side of
the profile.
[0008] The coupling element consists on a flat surface injected on the two surfaces of the
lower strap end, presenting said coupling element two cylindrically shaped and partially
cut half bridges to be located against the half bridges fitted to the lower profile
and through which is introduced the fastener that keeps the strap and profiled joined
together.
[0009] The lower profile has the same side section employed in other models, which allows
the upper slat to be supported as well as its turning movement, being partially cut
to reduce weight, being upwardly fitted with partially cut half bridges, as previously
described.
[0010] The profile is obtained through injection in a mould that determines a part in which
is located the profile and the fastener itself, arranged in the lateral position and
across the openings of the half bridges of the profile, so that whenever the assembly
between the profile and the strap coupling is effected by confronting the half bridges
of both parts, it is only necessary to knock on the end of the fastener, loosening
it from the profile and introducing it through the half bridges of both parts.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0011] In order to complement the description being effected and with the purpose of aiding
a better and easier understanding of the features of the invention, this patent specification
is accompanied, as integral part thereof, of a set of drawings where, with an illustrative
but never limitative character the following has been duly represented:
Figure 1. Represents a frontal view of the strap and profile coupling element.
Figure 2. Represents a frontal view of the part obtained through injection and made
up of profile and fastener.
Figure 3. Represents a view of the roller shutter security top.
PREFERRED EXECUTION OF THE INVENTION
[0012] As may be observed in the figures, the roller shutter security top consists of a
strap (1) to which is injected a coupling plastic element (2) that is attached to
the plastic profile (3) using a fastener (4), being the profile (3) the element from
which the upper shutter slat hangs, thus achieving an assembly that does not mark
or damage the slats upon which falls the profile (3) whenever the shutter is wound
up.
[0013] The plastic coupling element (2) consists of a flat surface (3) that has on its lower
side two cylindrically shaped, partially cut half bridges (4), placed against the
half bridges built into the lower profile (6), having said half bridges (4) and (5)
been previously drilled to enable the insertion of a fastener (7) also made of plastic
material.
[0014] The profile (6) and fastener (7) are configured by injection in the same part obtained
through moulding, so that the fastener is arranged laterally against the openings
drilled into the half bridges (5), being the coupling (3) element associated to the
profile (6) through the fastener (7) that is pushed inside the half bridges after
bring detached from the profile (6).
[0015] It is not considered necessary to extend this description any further to enable any
expert in the art to understand the scope of the invention and the advantages derived
therefrom.
[0016] The materials, shape, size and arrangement of the elements may be varied within the
same characteristics as long as the essential features of the invention are not altered.
[0017] The terms used during the description and its sense must always be considered in
a wide and non limitative sense.
1. Roller shutter security top of the type used to prevent shutters being lifted from
outside a dwelling, fundamentally made up of a flexible strap associated to the roller
of the shutter and a profile to support the upper slat of the shutter, essentially
characterized because it has a plastic coupling element (2) injected upon the end
of the flat surfaced strap (1), with two lower cylindrically shaped and partially
cut half bridges downwardly arranged, located against the half bridges (5) fitted
to the profile (6) arranged downwardly, having been internally drilled into said half
bridges (4) and (5) orifices into which is introduced a fastener (7) also made of
plastic material, which determines the joint between profile (6) and strap (1), constituting
an assembly that prevents slat wear and marking.
2. Roller shutter security top as per the prior claim, characterized because the profile
(6) and the fastener (7) are configured through injection in a single part made through
moulding, so that the fastener is arranged laterally and placed against the orifices
drilled into the half bridges (5) of cylindrical shape and partially cut, being the
coupling element (3) attached upon the profile (6) by the fastener (7) that is pushed
inside the half bridges in the coupling position, becoming unattached from the profile
(6) with which it previously constituted a single part.
3. Roller shutter security top.
