[0001] The present invention concerns an installation of watch and defence of a determined
space, as the inside of a room of a bank counter, of a post office, of an airplain
cabin, or of an outside space as the entry zone of a building to be protected.
[0002] The installations of this type proposed until now, are not satisfactory from the
point of view of their efficacy, their cost and their possibilities of application.
[0003] The aim of the present invention is to provide an installation of watch and defence
of a given space which permits from a part, by means relatively cheap, to watch over
this space in a permanent way and, from the other part, to take action, if necessary,
in an offensive way to neutralize the person(s) undesirable who was/were able to introduce
themself(ves) in said space, from a checkpoint located at distance.
[0004] For this purpose, the installation according to the invention, comprises al least
an observation and intervention device destined to be assembled in said space and
a checkpoint destined to be placed outside this space, said device comprising a container
in which are arranged a videocamera, a laser sight device and also a mirror for a
laser ray of intervention coming from a laser of suitable power assembled outside
said container, said container being equipped with an entry opening and an exit opening
for said laser ray, said mirror, the sight device and the videocamera being assembled
on a mobile support with respect to the container, so that the sight disposal and
the videocamera are oriented in the same direction of the exit direction of said laser
ray of intervention and said support being coupled to a first transmission engine,
the installation comprising also means for transmitting to said checkpoint the images
collected by the videocamera, first means to control said first engine from the checkpoint,
and means to fire the laser from this checkpoint.
[0005] The container of the observation and intervention device can be assembled in a mobile
way with respect to the support means and placed so that it can be draged by a second
transmission engine. In this case, the installation can include means to control the
second transmission engine from said checkpoint.
[0006] Said mirror can be coupled with a compensation gearmotor; controlled by means of
calculation means acting in such a way to correct the inclination of the mirror with
respect to said mobile support, the videocamera and the sight device being integral
to this support.
[0007] According to a preferred embodiment, the container of the observation and intervention
device, is assembled in a rotative way with respect to said support means and the
support on which are fixed the mirror of the laser ray of intervention, the sight
device and the videocamera are rotary revolving around a perpendicular axis of rotation
of the container.
[0008] The present invention will be better understood in the light of the description of
the following embodiment, given as an example and illustrated in the enclosed drawings
in which
Figure No. 1 is a schematic front view, of an observation and intervention device
being part of the installation according to the invention and,
Figure No. 2 is a lateral cross section view of a part of this device.
[0009] The device represented in figures 1 and 2 comprises a container 1 which comprises,
in the present example, a cylindrical part 1a and a spherical part 1b, and a sleeve
1c which permits the suspension of the container to a support device 2, for example,
a sleeper fixed under the ceiling of a room to be watched over. A flange 3 is fixed
on the circumference of the sleeve 1c and retains the internal ring of a roller bearing
4, the external ring of this bearing being supported by means of fixing hooks as 5,
6. A trasmission engine 7 of the container 1 and a laser of suitable power 8 are equally
fixed on the support device 2.
[0010] The engine 7 comprises an axis 9 on which is assembled a transmission disk 10 which
drags the container 1 by friction on the sleeve 1c.
[0011] A second transmission engine 11 as a step by step engine is assembled inside the
container 1 and is settled in such a way to drag around its axis a support plate 12
on which are assembled a mirror 13, a laser sight device 14 and a videocamera 15.
[0012] The mirror 13 is coupled with an ensemle gearmotor 22 controlled by a microprocessor
so that to correct the inclination of the mirror with respect to de videocamera and
to the sight device 14 which are assembled fixedly way on the plate 12.
[0013] The support plate 12 contains equally an electronic circuit 16 grouping in this case,
the feeding and controlling circuits for the engine 11 and the laser of the sight
device 14 and also the feeding and treatment ciruits of the signals of the videocamera
15 and the microprocessor for calculating the correction of the inclination of the
mirror 13.
[0014] The electric links outside the container 1 pass through a collecting device 17, 18
linked in this case to a checkpoint, which is not represented, to which is connected
the laser 8; also the different control and feeding links are not represented.
[0015] The ray emitted by the laser of duitable power 8 indicated by the broken line 20
is reflected by a mirror 19, assembled fixedly with respect to the support device
2, on the mobile mirror 13 which reflects it in its turn through an opening 21 of
the container 1 towards a target sighted. The power of the offensive laser 8 which
can be a laser of the type CO
2 is for example of 150 - 475 W, the energy of the outgoing ray being regulated in
such a way to put a person out of action.
[0016] The watch of the determinate space is carried out from the checkpoint by the videocamera
15 which produces on a monitor of the checkpoint an image of the zone observed. During
the watch, the container (1) has been made rotate continually and the mobile support
plate 12 is draged by the engine 11 in a sense, then in the other, between two angolar
limit positions so that to explore all the space to be watched over.
[0017] In the case in which an intervention against an intruder in this watched space is
necesary, the operator can control, from the checkpoint, the engines 7 and 11 so that
to sight by the laser device 14 the precise place on which he can take action and
then can emit the laser of suitable power 8 whose ray 20 reflected by the mirrors
19 and 13 acts in such a way to neutralize a person as a terrorist or armed bandit.
