[0001] The present invention refers to a baseball-style cap formed by a dome-shaped crown
of cloth and by half-moon shaped peak characterized in essentials by a pair of hemispherical
reversible crown members which give it a changing aspect according to the user's different
dressing needs and moreover they permit to form a ventilation chamber with a hole
system for the air passage. For its forming at first panel members are put together
by sewing to form a pair of hemispherical crown members in which each wall can be
operated in such way that its look is graphically varied according to the specific
use. Said two hemispherical crown members are then jointed on their corresponding
front section by several seams putting a half-moon shaped peak between their inside
borders. A single seam rans all along the boundary line is then made which marks the
opening of the inside part of the cap to insure its fit and shape fit so to complete
the overall aspect of the cap. Thus, in the above stated pattern there is a spheroidal
wrapping composed of the said pair of hemispherical crown members which are interactive
semiparts and hold the half-moon shaped peak between their inside seams. Before putting
on the cap the hemispherical crown with the outside wall, which at that moment is
not to be used and shown, it put inside the other crown with different colours or
badges to display. Thus, the outside look of the cap can be changed by reversing its
crown. The cap here described is an improvement in the field of the baseball-style
caps of cloth with hemispherical crowns and peaks which feature a mesh calotte or
other type of lining inside to make it adhere to the head. Said lining to permit the
cap fit and shape even in case of sudden movements or jerks, as it may happen when
such sportswear articles of clothing are worn, and at the same time to form a ventilation
chamber with the cap outside wrapping against the cut is overheating caused by sunbeams
of the perspiration stagnation.
[0002] As regards the construction of this current type of cap, as the hemispherical crown
is the only supporting frame-work of the peak, the cap wrapping should feature on
its inside end, in a front position with a matching pendant over the cap peak, a reinforcing
part of the peak internal contour which fixes the peak. Moreover in this current cap
this reinforcing part helps the cap to be tight fitting as the hemispherical crown
of cloth, which is fitted inside, has only its inside edge to hold the cap in place
and therefore has not a sufficient compression value while the lining ensures the
head covering. Then it is to consider that this kind of cap is used to meet several
needs of the sportswear users, and namely it can be used either to attend sports shows
or sports competitive trainings, or it can be worn in everyday life as a common article
of clothing. As regards the first use here described, the outside part of the cap
can be personalized with prints of badges referring to the sports club to which the
user belongs or that he supports. When the cap is used as a common article of clothing
in everday life, as described in the second use, no sports reference will be shown
on its outside part. It should be noted that this kind of cap here described is in
vogue among the sports club supporters. At present the current regulations in force
for the game of football, of basket of other sports, ordain that the two playing teams
must be clearly identified. If the team playing away it is likely to be confused with
the team playing at home, therefore out-of-town players must wear social colours different
from those that they normal wear when play at home. Consequently, the supporters which
attend the team also when it play away must have two different caps: one with the
usual social colours of their team on its outside part and the other with the occasional
social colours.
[0003] If compared with the caps now in use, the invented cap features: a) the possibility
of having two different outside wall in an only one cap with different colours, decorations,
prints or badges; b) a new pattern represented by two semi-wrappings where one goes
inside the other alternatively so to form a whole covering with a double body which
ensures the best fitness and setting up of the cap; c) the inside supporting structure
of the peak is eliminated due to the fact that, as the peak inside border is inserted
through the counterposed borders of the two parts of the wrapping, both borders of
the said wrapping will act as a support and a firm setting of the peak when one cap
inner coating or the other one are turned out and displayed; d) the possibility of
eliminating the lining to making the cap adhere to the head. The cup thus featured
is reversible and with a better putting on and where the simplicity of its composing
parts allows lower production costs.
[0004] The invented cap is formed at first by a pair of hemispherical crowns of cloth made
by joining triangular panel members 1 on seam lines 2 going centrally from the top
of the cap to its circular border. Said pair of hemispherical crowns is then to be
jointed on their inside borders by a sewing 3 inserting frontally a half-on peak 4
between them so to form an only wrapping composed of two interacting semiparts.
[0005] Making re-enter the first hemispherical crowns into the second one, a double-body
cap is thus obtained with an intermediate chamber 5.
[0006] In this cap the inside hemispherical crown is retained to act as a head-lining which
ensures the cap best fitting thanks to the outside hemispherical crown wich presses
down the inside one with an uniform fit. By reversing the cap and by placing in the
inner the outside hemispherical crown, through its introduction into the opening formed
by the joined borders from the seam 3, a variation of the exterior part of the cap
is thus obtained. This by alternating the hemispherical crown with an exterior part
6 which becomes the cap lining with the other hemispherical crown with different exterior
part 7 which becomes the part to be shown. In this respect, graphically changing the
two hemispherical crowns 6 and 7, through the cap reversibility a different look is
thus obtained according to the cap different use. Moreover providing a system of holes
8 in the corresponding counterparts on the two hemispherical crowns of the cap, a
ventilation effect inside the cap is determined by letting the air pass through the
intermediate chamber 5. The invented baseball-style cap is illustrated by way of example
in the drawings of sheets 1, 2 and 3. In sheet 1 fig. 1 is section view of the baseball-style
cap with a reversible double-body which features, on top of both its hemishperical
crown, a buttons 9 and, at the back, a shape cut 10 to allow the width allowance of
the entrance opening, which can be carried out by means of small straps 11 carrying,
on their joining end links, a union device with semi-components self-sticking parts
12. Fig. 2 is a prspective cutaway of the invented cap. In sheet 2 fig. 3 is prospective
view of a cap with expositive part 6 characterized by special decorations of badges
at the outside. Fig. 4 is view of the same cap of fig. 3 where, due to its reversibility,
the other expositive part 7 characterized by different decorations was reversed outside.
[0007] In sheet 3 the operations which determine the variation of the cap external part
are illustrated. In particular, fig. 5 is a prospectic view of the reversed cap whare
a hand is putting the expositive part 7, which at first was outside, inside the cap.
Fig. 6 is a prospective view of the expositive part 7 which was positioned towards
the inside, thus forming the part in contact with the user's head. Fig. 7 is a prospective
view of the cap where the expositive part 6 is placed outside and the peak 4 is adjusted
and positioned in the right place.
1. Reversible baseball-style cap to be formed at first by a pair of hemispherical crowns
of cloth made by joining triangular panel members (1) on seam lines (2) going centrally
from the top of the cap to its circular border in that said pair of hemispherical
crowns is then to be jointed on their inside borders by a sewing (3) inserting frontally
a half-moon peak (4) between them so to form an only wrapping composed of two interacting
semiparts; characterized in that:
- making re-enter the first hemispherical crown into the second one, a double-body
cap is thus obtained with an intermediate chamber (5) in that the inside hemispherical
crown is retained to act as a head-lining which ensures the cap best fitting thanks
to the outside hemispherical crown which presses down the inside one with an uniform
fit;
- by reversing the cap and by placing in the inner the outside hemispherical crown,
through its introduction into the opening formed by the joined borders from the sema
(3), a variation of the exterior part of the cap is thus obtained by alternating the
hemispherical crown with and exterior part (6) which becomes the cap lining with the
other hemispherical crown with different exterior part (7) which becomes the part
to be shown;
- graphically changing the two hemispherical crowns (6 and 7) through the cap reversibility
a different look is thus obtained according to the cap different use.
2. Reversible baseball-style cap, as per claim 1) characterized in that providing a system
of holes (8) in the corresponding counterparts on the two hemispherical crowns of
the cap, a ventilation effect inside the cap is determined by letting the air pass
through the intermediate chamber (5).
