(57) A drive circuit is disclosed which includes a winding 18 of relatively low resistance, the winding 18 being connected to a source of DC supply, a chopping action being used to maintain the mean current in the winding 18 at a mean level, the volts/turn characteristics of the winding resulting from the low winding resistance resulting in the excess power available for charging a tank capacitor being increased.
