Ironing board cover and ironing board provided with such an ironing board cover |
(57) The invention relates to an ironing board cover consisting of a fabric provided on
a foam layer, which foam layer can be affixed to the ironing board, whereby an aromatic
substance is incorporated in the foam layer. The invention also relates to an ironing
board provided with such an ironing board cover, whereby an aromatic substance is
incorporated in the foam layer of the cover.
[0001] The invention relates to an ironing board cover consisting of a fabric provided on
a foam layer, which foam layer can be affixed to the ironing board.
[0002] Such an ironing board cover is known from European Patent Application No. 0 043 700,
although the ironing board cover according to the invention does not require the layer
provided on the ironing board to comprise an adhesive layer.
[0003] In practice it has become apparent that there is a need for an ironing operation
wherein the ironed articles of clothing or the household textile are provided with
an aromatic substance. To this end it has been proposed in European Patent Application
No. 0 028 380 to add additives and possibly aromatic substances to the water with
which a steam iron is to be filled. A drawback of this is the fact that it is necessary
to add the additives and the aromatic substances to the water each time anew, which
requires an additional operation, or to keep a stock of water containing such substances.
Moreover, the desired effect cannot be obtained with irons which do no use steam.
[0004] According to the invention the desired transfer of particular odours, such as blossom
scent, can take place without adding substances to the water, and in accordance with
the invention a solution to this problem is obtained by manufacturing an ironing board
cover according to the invention as referred to in the introduction, which ironing
board cover is characterized in that an aromatic substance is incorporated in the
foam layer.
[0005] It is easy for a person skilled in this field to select the aromatic substance in
dependence on the desired scent, knowing that the aromatic substance will be released
in the desired concentration at the elevated temperature at which the ironing operation
is carried out.
[0006] The invention furthermore relates to the ironing board provided with an ironing board
cover, which ironing board cover is provided with a foam layer in which the aromatic
substance is incorporated.
[0007] It will be apparent that the ironing board cover according to the invention is not
limited by the auxiliary means attached to the cover in order to secure it to the
ironing board, or by the motif provided on the fabric. Furthermore such a cover may
also be provided with a metallized layer, which enables ironing at a temperature lower
than the normal ironing temperature, because the metallized fabric will reflect the
heat.
1. An ironing board cover consisting of a fabric provided on a foam layer, which foam
layer can be affixed to the ironing board, characterized in that an aromatic substance
is incorporated in the foam layer.
2. An ironing board provided with an ironing board cover, characterized in that said
cover corresponds with the cover as claimed in claim 1.
