A holder for lipstick or the like

Abstract

 A lipstick holder (2) comprises a base (6) in which the second half-body (12) of a container (8) is enclosed; the first half-body (10) of the container (8) is outside the base (6) and is completely transparent.
The mechanism for moving the lipstick (R) is entirely inside the base (6).

Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a holder for lipstick or the like and, in particular, the present invention relates to a lipstick holder which allows the observer and possible purchaser to see the quantity, quality and colour of the lipstick directly without operating the mechanism which moves the lipstick.

[0002] The disadvantage of normal lipstick holders is that the purchaser cannot evaluate the quantity and quality of the product being purchased without opening the holder and hence the package.

[0003] The object of the present invention is to provide a lipstick holder which eliminates the aforementioned disadvantage, is of simple construction and inexpensive, and enables the natural colour, the quantity, and the quality of the product being purchased to be seen with complete transparency simply by looking at the lipstick without manipulating it.

[0004] The present invention achieves the aforesaid object by means of a lipstick holder having the specific characteristics recited in the following claims.

[0005] The invention will now be described with reference to the appended drawings, provided purely by way of non-limiting example, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a lipstick holder according to the present invention in its assembled and completed form, and

Figure 2 is a perspective view of the lipstick holder of Figure 1, exploded to show its various components.

[0006] With reference to the drawings, the lipstick holder according to the invention is generally indicated 2.
The holder 2 comprises a hollow base 6 with a cylindrical internal section and a hollow body 8 or container which is open at its ends and is formed by a first half body 10 and a second half-body 12 which are cylindrical and coaxial; the first half-body 10 has a larger diameter than the second half-body 12. The first half-body 10 is made of completely transparent material.

[0007] The second half-body 12 has opposed longitudinal slots 14 and 16; the slot 14 has travel limits 18, 20 at its ends, whereas the slot 16 has a travel limit 22 and a travel limit homologous to the travel limit 20 of the slot 14 but not visible in Figure 2.

[0008] The second half-body 12 has an opening 24 in its peripheral portion in the region of the travel limit 18.

[0009] The lower end of the second half-body 12 has a substantially peripheral raised portion 28 interrupted in the region of the opening 24.

[0010] A slidable, cylindrical, cup-shaped element 30 with an outside diameter substantially smaller than the inside diameter of the second half-body 12 is positioned inside the second half-body 12 by elastic deformation of the region defined by the slots 14 and 16. The slidable element has diametrally opposed projections 32, 34 for cooperating slidingly with the slots 14 and 16 of the second half-body 12.

[0011] The slidable element 30 is intended to contain a lipstick R in use.

[0012] After the slidable element 30 has been arranged in the second half-body 12, a hollow cylinder 40, open at its ends and having two internal recessed helical grooves 42 and 43, is fitted on the outer portion of the second half-body 12.

[0013] The hollow cylinder 40 is thus fitted between the lower raised portion 28 of the second half-body 12 and the undercut 41 created owing to the difference in diameter between the first half-body 10 and the second half-body 12.

[0014] Once the assembly described above has been completed, the unit is fitted in the base 6 with interference.

[0015] In use, rotation of the base 6, which is fixed relative to the cylinder 40, causes the cylinder 40 to rotate and its helical grooves 42, 43, cooperating with the projections 32, 34 of the body 30, urge the body 30 upwards or downwards along the slots 14, 16, in dependence on the position of the slider 30, as far as the respective travel limits corresponding to the sense of rotation of the base 6.

[0016] The holder is then completed by a fully transparent cap 50.

[0017] The lipstick R shown in the drawings is in fact positioned in the slider 30 after the holder 2 has been assembled but has been shown in the drawings for greater clarity.

[0018] The advantages of a lipstick holder according to the invention are clear from the foregoing description. The positioning of the movement mechanism inside the base of the holder and the completely transparent first half-body and cap, without obstructions between the lipstick and the purchaser, enable the purchaser to see exactly the quantity, quality and colour of the product about to be purchased; in this connection, quality means an absence of drips bubbles, lack of product and the like.

[0019] Naturally, the principle of the invention remaining the same, the details of construction and forms of embodiment may be varied widely with respect to those described and illustrated, without thereby departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims

1. A lipstick holder comprising a hollow base (6) with a cylindrical internal section, a hollow container body (8) open at its ends and formed by a first half-body (10) and a second half-body (12) which are cylindrical and coaxial, the first half-body (10) having a diameter substantially larger than that of the second half-body (12), the second half-body (12) having its peripheral end open and having two opposed longitudinal slots (14, 16), a cup or slider (30), closed at one of its ends, for housing a lipstick (R) and comprising appendages (32, 34), the slider being insertable in the second half-body (12) and the appendages (32, 34) being slidable in the slots (14, 16), a hollow cylindrical body (40) which has two internal helical grooves (42, 43) and which is fitted on the second half-body (12), the helical grooves (42 and 43) being suitable for cooperating with the appendages (32, 34) during rotation, the second half-body (12), assembled with the body (40) having the helical groove, and with the slider (30), being fitted in the base (6) with interference, characterized in that the unit constituted by the second half-body (12), the body (40) with the helical groove, and the slider (30) is entirely inside the base (6).

2. A lipstick holder according to Claim 1, characterized in that the whole of the first half-body (10) is transparent and without discontinuities.

3. A lipstick holder according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises a completely transparent cap (50).
