(57) A tumble dryer (1) comprises a control device (2) comprising a moisture sensor, and a timer, the timer (9) being triggered by the sensor on sensing a predetermined trip point, and the timer causing a tumble dryer to switch off at the end of a predetermined time period after the timer has been triggered.
