[0001] The present invention has for object an equipment for cash box, of the type with
money collection rolling basket, aiming at protecting and dispensing bank notes, particularly
for Banking Companies and Post Offices.
[0002] The invention, finds particular even if not exclusive application in the sector of
the antitheft equipment and devices for the safety of the services performed by the
desk tellers such as the money cash desk. Prior art
[0003] The desk cash service is known. Generally, it provides a teller, positioned on one
side of the desk window, who, on the client's request, performs the collection, the
counting and dispensing of money cash sums. Nowadays in many Banking Companies, such
as in Post Offices, the handling of sums, sometimes considerable ones, is still a
very spread habit, in which said cash money is drawn or inserted in a drawer, suitably
arranged and obtained underneath the working desk. At the beginning, such drawer was
provided with a traditional key-lock in which the key was kept by the cashier, who
was forced in turn, to empty the drawer or to fill it, according to the cases, moving
from the desk to the office bank safe. The limits of such a system, appear easily
clear, being mainly related to the fact that during the window operations the deposit
drawer remains easily accessible, being suitable to that type of thefts, generally
the most frequent ones, in which the ill-intentioned person, going to the desk, orders
the cashier to consign him the available money. Thus, the classical theft so performed
may be considered very fast and it is satisfactory also for its results, furthermore
being almost without obstacles and risks.
[0004] Such a situation, objectively negative, brought some Companies which work in the
security sector, to satisfy the protection needs of those subjects mainly concerned
with these situations. At first said interventions concerned mainly the traditionally
existing structures, by the practical side, using some timing devices on the opening
controls of the deposit drawer or drawers present in the cash box. Said solution was
soon found inadequate, and this because it may seem useful only for the beginning
and closing phase of the cash box operations, while during the service performance,
the opening times and the intervals between one closing and a next opening would be
extremely long, causing unavoidable queues at the windows.
[0005] The above stated concept, concerning the timing of the drawers opening, was recently
used by other Companies, which, urged by their clients, noticed the inadequacy of
the existing systems, which are not flexible enough for meeting the needs of a modern
cash box, subjected to thefts and forced to mediate with the time and modalities necessary
for their work execution. Thus a security equipment for the protection and management
only of bank notes in the cash box service is now asserting itself, being essentially
made up of a strong containing structure, inside of which, together with the relative
mechanisms, a rolling basket, having a circular shape is provided, radially subdivided
into a plurality of compartments or cells. Inside of each cell the bank notes wads
are positioned, allowing during the basket rolling movement, their arrangement, step
after step, in correspondence of a mouthpiece for the drawing/deposit of the money
sums. The access to the single cells is thus allowed, by a mouthpiece, provided with
openable door and vice versa, whose condition is controlled and managed by a logic
unit, which interacts with the basket circular moving and stopping.
[0006] The solution now described has to be considered with no doubt as innovative, but
it is still subjected to some drawbacks, which practically consist of the excessive
dimensions. Said dimensions, are mainly related to the plane position and to the equipment's
operating mechanism, which involves a reduction of space for the operator and for
the apparatus concerned with his working functions. As a consequence there are long
and complex operations for the adaptation to the existing structures as well as the
purchase of suitable furniture. A second enhanced problem, is due to the equipment
complexity, which affects considerably the purchase and maintenance costs because
of the particular mechanics, requiring a constant care with the frequent intervention
of specialised personnel.
[0007] A substantial simplification for such collection and dispensing system of money sums
in bank notes, was offered by the system called "Roller Cash®" (soc. CESPRO - Firenze).
This equipment substantially derives from the previous one, only changing the basket
position which is no longer horizontal, but placed vertically. Therefore, it can be
said that it is made up of a strong steel structure, inside of which, together with
the relative mechanical and electrical components, a kind of drum having more openings
is housed (the manufacturer Company makes available only one of the two advertised
versions having 20 to 40 openings), each of which contains a wads holder box. The
access to the drum, is allowed by a mouthpiece, through which, inserting the cases
with the bank notes, the equipment pre-charging is possible. At the same time, each
case may be removed for the money drawing, but only one at a time, after a pre-determined
and gapped time between the drawings.
[0008] The described solution undoubtedly solves the main problems related to the previous
equipment oversize, by rationally using the available space and making the operator's
intervention easier. In the same solution, though, there is still a certain mechanical
complexity, mainly related to the operating system of the openings-drawers and their
relative closing devices, which considerably increases the costs, both relative to
the equipment purchase and to its maintenance.
[0009] Purpose of the present invention is that of obviating the above mentioned drawbacks.
[0010] These and other purposes are reached by the present invention according to the characteristics
as in the enclosed drawings solving the mentioned problems by means of an equipment
for cash box, of the type with money sums rolling collection basket, aiming at protecting
and dispensing bank notes, particularly for Banking Companies and Post Offices, comprising
a protection chassis, inside of which a turntable is pivoted, supported by the corresponding
internal walls, consisting of a single vertical wheel placed on the side, moved by
a suitable gearmotor group fed by the mains with eventual auxiliary means, and in
which along the perimeter and orthogonally respect to said wheel some oscillating
misaligned compartments for the money collection are fulcrumed, said compartments
being able to be arranged, depending on the information supplied by a control and
activation logic unit, in correspondence with a mouthpiece, placed on the chassis
upper part, provided with an eventually time openable gate, and vice versa.
[0011] Thus, through the considerable creative contribution whose effect represents an immediate
technical progress many advantages are obtained. At first an increased functionality
is obtained, with a substantial equipment simplification and an incomparable compactness.
The use of the particular movement system as well as the same compartments, makes
even the least type of intervention easy, being an extremely reliable structure and
with rather contained costs.
[0012] These and other advantages will appear from the following detailed description of
a preferred form of embodiment with the aid of the enclosed schematic drawings whose
execution details are not to be considered as limitative but are only given as examples.
Figure 1., shows a side view of the equipment for the money sums collection and dispensing,
enhancing the internal part relative to the compartments moving turntable.
While Figure 2 shows a cross sectional view of the same equipment illustrated in the
previous Figure, for the money sums collection and dispensing.
[0013] Referring also to the figures, it may be noticed that an equipment (A) for the money
sums collection, protection and dispensing, is essentially made up of a parallelepiped-shaped
chassis (1), provided with a front shield (1') with relative sides, a base (1'') and
a back (1''). On the front shield (1'), positioned in the upper and skew part of the
same, a face with a mouthpiece (2) is provided, which is closeable by a movable gate
(3), laterally guided (3'). Said gate (3), being movable, provides a motor means (4),
which by a connection winding belt (4') must only control the lifting of said movable
gate (3). The return to the closed position, thus, closing the mouthpiece (2) is carried
out only by releasing the motor (4) which will cause the guided fall up to a corresponding
stop and simply by gravity, of said gate (3).
[0014] The purpose of said mouthpiece (2) provided with closing means (3), is substantially
that of allowing the access to the outside operator, inside of the metal chassis (1),
where some suitable means for the money sums collection and dispensing are provided.
These latter, in this specific case, are made up of a rolling turntable, which supports,
in an oscillating way, a series of compartments (5). More in detail, said turntable,
is made up of a wheel or of a single circular disk, placed vertically (6) having a
rather wide diameter, centrally pivoted, by suitable supporting and moving means,
to the internal and parallel walls (7, 7') of the chassis (1). Even more in detail,
to said disk (6), a small shaft's end (9) is integrally keyed, which, crossing said
disk (6), projects, for being inserted, idle, inside of a teflon bushing (8) steadily
associated to the internal wall (7'). On the other side, the small shaft (9) is engaged
to a gearmotor group (10), fastened, by spacing screw means (11) and by a suitable
support bracket (11'), to the wall (7) facing the wall (7').
[0015] Perimetrally, respect to the disk (6) intrados, a series of compartments (5), oscillating,
are pivoted projecting, being able to contain money sums.
[0016] Even more in detail, at least one of said compartments (5) is made up of a parallelepiped
shaped container, longitudinally open, and provided on the upper side close to the
mouthpiece (5'') of a tail-end (5'). The purpose of said tail-end (5') is that of
being orthogonally fulcrumed to the disk (6) and out-of-center the compartment (5),
so that because of the disymmetric weight distribution, the compartment (5) maintains
the mouthpiece (5'') turned upwards, and the corresponding bottom downwards adapting
its position, in accordance with the weight of the money provided in the corresponding
compartment (5).
[0017] The equipment (A) activation, fed by the mains and provided with a series of buffer
batteries, is ensured by a logic unit, eventually able to interact with the computerised
system of the operating position. Depending on the type of request, the disk (6) which
supports the projecting compartments (5), rotates, pre-arranging in correspondence
of the mouthpiece (2), the concerned compartment (5). At this point, detecting, by
suitable means the presence of said compartment (5), aligned with the mouthpiece (2),
a control activates the gate (3) opening, which will remain lifted for a necessary
time, for then being released and closing again only by the gravity effect.

compartments (5) are freely fulcrumed, said compartments (5) being able to be arranged,
