(57) A method for disposing of the washing liquid in a machine for washing items and the washing machine. The machine (10) comprises a chamber (14) for washing the items (18), means (16) for supporting at least one item (18) in the washing chamber (14), means (14') for storing the washing liquid (20), means for bringing the washing liquid (20) into contact with the item (18) to be washed, and means (26) for eliminating the washing liquid from the machine (10). According to the method, to eliminate the washing liquid from the machine, the washing liquid is evaporated, thus reducing the volume of liquid to be eliminated.
