(54) Carrying basket, in particular for fruit and vegetables

(57) A packaging basket (2) of cardboard or plastic material with a handle (4) and shaped as mainly a box-shaped packaging manufactured by folding and fixing, for instance by glueing or welding, from a punched packaging blank (5) of cardboard or plastic material comprising side parts (6, 8, 10, 12) and bottom parts (14, 16, 18, 20) being mutually divided by folding lines (22), where the handle (4) is made in one piece with said packaging blank (5), said handle (4) comprises end parts (24) being adapted to be folded around a folding line (26) and connected preferably to the inside of the side parts (6, 10) by glueing or welding. By means of simple provisions a new and an improved packaging basket is hereby obtained, which inclusive a possible lid may be manufactured in one piece with said handle, that is that good safety for optimum permanent connection between handle and packaging basket is obtained by the said connection of said end parts to side parts of the basket.

Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a packaging basket, in particular for fruit and vegetables, and of the type disclosed in the introductory part of claim 1.

[0002] Known packaging baskets of this type are regardless of the actual bottom closing and folding principle most often provided with a loose handle, that is a handle of plastic material or cardboard being adapted to fasten to side parts of the basket either by insertion special made end parts of the handle through holes or by means of staples. In other words in all known types it concerns some form of aftermounting of loose handles to provide packaging baskets.

[0003] The invention has for its purpose to provide a new and improved packaging basket of the type mentioned in the introductory part, and by which the said disadvantages are rectified by simple provisions.

[0004] The packaging basket according to the invention is distinctive in that the handle is made in one piece with said packaging blank, said handle comprises end parts being adapted to be folded around a folding line and connected preferably to the inside of side parts by glueing or welding. By means of simple provisions a new and an improved packaging basket is hereby obtained, which including a possible lid may be manufactured in one piece with said handle, that is that good safety for optimum permanent connection between handle and packaging basket is obtained by the said connection of said end parts to side parts of the basket.

[0005] In order to ensure that the handle projects vertical from the basket this is preferably such provided, that the handle is divided from said end parts by 45° inclined folding lines. And appropriately the packaging basket according to the invention is such provided, that the handle has a centre part defined between folding lines, the length of said centre part corresponds to the length of the long sides of the basket, that is that the basket is rectangular.

[0006] In order to protect the handle, the packaging basket according to the invention is furthermore such provided, that the handle may be folded in along the inside of the side parts, so that the packaging basket may be folded together to a flat multi-layed member, as the bottom parts are mutually connected and folded together between the side parts, that is such that the folded together packaging member has a total length corresponding to the total length of a short and a long side part.

[0007] Advantageously, the packaging basket according to the invention may be such provided that a preferably longest side part is connected with a lid part capable to be inserted between the side parts of the handle for closing of the basket.

[0008] The invention is further explained in the following with the drawing, in which:
Fig. 1
shows a perspective view of an embodiment for a packaging basket according to the invention, and
Fig. 2
shows a plane view of an embodiment for a packaging blank for a packaging basket according to the invention.

[0009] The package basket 2 shown in Fig. 1 has a rectangular basket part with a handle 4, which as also shown in Fig. 2 is an integrated part of a plane packaging blank 5 of cardboard or plastic material. The packaging blank 5 comprises side parts or panels 6, 8, 10, 12 and bottom parts or panels 14, 16, 18, 20 being mutually divided by folding lines 22. The handle 4 is along a centre part 31 and two side parts 34 cut free from the side panels 6, 8, 10 in such a manner, that the handle 4 only is connected with the side panels 6 and 10 via folding lines 26.

[0010] The handle 4 has 45° inclined folding lines 28 between end parts 24 and the side parts 34, as the end parts 24 together with the handle 4 - as shown in dotted lines - are adapted to be folded in along the side panels 6, 8, 10, whereafter the end parts 24 are connected with the side panels 6, 10 by glueing or welding (the latter if the basket is made from plastic foil). The end parts 24 are by dotted hatching indicated as glueing surfaces.

[0011] The bottom parts or panels 16 and 20 comprise parts 17, 21, which also are indicated as gluing surfaces, as these parts by the chosen embodiment of bottom closure is adapted to be folded and glued together with the bottom parts or panels 14 and 18. The side part or panel 12 is also via the folding line 23 provided with glueing flap 13 serving as connection of the side panel 12 with the side panel 6.

[0012] In the shown embodiment the handle 4 may, when the packaging basket 2 is closed at the bottom, be folded and placed along the inner sides of the side panels 6, 8, 10, that is such that the partly rised packaging basket partly may be folded together to a multi-layed shape with a total length corresponding to the total length of a short and of a long side panel 6, 8.

[0013] The packaging blank 5 may as indicated lowermost in Fig. 2 comprise a lid part 32, which - after the basket is rised and fixed - may be inserted between the side parts 34 of the handle for closing of the topside of the packaging basket 2.

[0014] Finally it shall be mentioned, that the handle 4 may be provided with other folding lines than the shown folding lines, so that the handle possibly only has a central folding line, that is that the handle mainly has triangle shape. Another possibility would be a huge number of folding lines, so that the handle extends in a soft curve between the short side panels 6, 10. However, in all cases the handle will comprise inclined folding lines 28 between the end parts 24, which are integrated with the basket.
