(54) Remote control door mechanisms

(57) A door mechanism has a rigid door frame (10) for mounting in a door opening. A door panel (11) is suspended in the frame (10) by a door suspension mechanism. The door suspension mechanism includes a shaft (12) extending along the top of the door opening, a pair of counter-balancing springs (13) for applying torque to the shaft, and a pair of links (14) each pivotally connected at one end to a bracket (15) on the frame (10) and at the other end to the door panel (11). The door suspension mechanism further includes a pair of drive chains on sprockets (17) mounted at opposite ends of the shaft (12). A power operable door operating mechanism is mounted on the frame and is operably connected with the shaft (12) via a clutch. The complete door mechanism can be mounted as a unit in the door opening, and is therefore simple to install.
