(54)	Imaging element comprising an electrically-conductive backing layer containing acicular metal-containing particles

(57) The present invention is an imaging element including a support, at least one image-forming layer, and a transparent electrically-conductive, abrasion-resistant protective layer. The protective layer includes acicular, crystalline, single-phase, conductive metal-containing fine particles dispersed in a polyurethane binder at a volume ratio of conductive metal-containing particles to polyurethane binder of between 2.5 and 20 volume percent. The polyurethane binder has a tensile elongation to break of at least 50% and a Young's modulus at a 2% elongation of a least 50,000 lb/in².
