(54) Imaging and printing systems

(57) In a system comprising a digital camera-ready printer (10) which can print directly from a variety of digital cameras (12, 14, 16, and 17), the printer (10) includes a hot shoe receptor (31) to establish a convenient hot shoe link (23) between a digital camera (17) and the digital camera-ready printer (10). The digital camera-ready printer (10) includes a processor (50) that can identify the coupled digital camera (12, 14, 16, and 17) in order to instruct the digital camera (12, 14, 16, and 17) to transmit the frames of digital image data. The processor (50) can also convert the format of the digital image data to a predetermined image file format. The processor (50) of the digital camera ready-printer (10) along with a display device (32) allows a user to edit and manipulate an electronic image represented by a single frame of digital image data prior to printing.
