(54) Apparatus for sequencing sheets or the like in carrier route order


(57) A system for sorting sheets in carrier route order within a delivery area has a carrier route sequencing device (1-5) for sorting and sequencing first sheets in carrier route order, first storage means provided in said carrier route sequencing device (1-5) for storing delivery point information within the delivery area of the first sheets which have been sorted and sequenced second storage means provided in said carrier route sequencing device (1-5) for storing delivery point information within the delivery area of the other sheets storage means (180) for storing a sequenced information, by which a combined delivery point information within said delivery area are sequenced in carrier route order, said combined delivery point information comprising a combination of said delivery point information stored in said first storage means and said delivery point information stored in said second storage means; and wherein said carrier route sequencing device (1-5) sorts said first sheets of the like based on said sequenced information stored in said storage means (180).
