(54) Electric heater


(57) An electric heater comprises a metal support dish (1) having a base (1A) and an upstanding peripheral rim (1B) having a free upper edge, a layer (2) of insulation material in the dish with at least one heating element (3) disposed relative thereto. A ring-shaped insulation member (6) is arranged within the dish adjacent to the peripheral rim and is supported at least in part on the layer of insulation material. Securing means is provided for the ring-shaped insulation member, the securing means comprising at least one narrow strip (5, 5A, 5B) of dish material at the free upper edge of the rim (1B). The or each narrow strip is formed by a slit section (4) of the dish (1) extending substantially parallel to the free upper edge, the or each narrow strip (5, 5A, 5B) being deformed over substantially the entire width thereof to overlyingly engage a portion (8, 9, 10) of the ring-shaped insulation member (6).
