(57) An adaptive lighting device for motor-vehicles comprises a first headlamp (3) to generate a predetermined basic light beam, and a second headlamp (4) having a variable diaphragm so as to be able to select a plurality of different additional light beams which are added to the basic light beam to generate different total light beams.
