(54) Air conditioner regulating unit

(57) The invention relates to an air conditioner regulating unit comprising a housing (1) to which air inlet and/outlet ducts (2, 3, 4, 5) are connected and which comprises an air flow regulating unit, such as a perforated plate (6, 7) having a shiftable throttle plate (8, 9) on its surface, the throttle plate being adjustable by means of an actuating mechanism (10) to regulate the air flow in the regulating unit. A presetting device (12) is provided between the throttle plate (8, 9) and the actuating mechanism (10).

Description

[0001] This invention relates to an air conditioner regulating unit consisting of a housing to which air inlet and/or outlet ducts have been connected and comprising an air flow regulator, such as a perforated plate having on its surface a mobile throttle plate which can be adjusted with an actuating mechanism to regulate the air flow of the regulating unit.

[0002] Finnish Patent Application 972280, for instance, discloses a regulating unit of this type known per se. The rated flow of the regulating unit is adjusted during the installation by covering the perforated plates with magnetic tapes. This is an awkward and time-consuming operation, because it requires the regulating unit to be opened and closed even several times before the adequate number of holes has been covered.

[0003] The purpose of this invention is to overcome the drawback mentioned above. The regulator in accordance with the invention is characterised by a presetting device for the air conditioner provided between the throttle plate and the actuator. Thus, the invention enables enables the required presetting to be initially performed during the installation of the device. Presetting may be performed either by determining the pressure difference prevailing in the device, or directly from the operator's instruction table, and accordingly, with a scale provided in the device. Correct presetting of the device will be achieved in one single operation. The air conditioner regulating unit and presetting device of the invention save up to thousands of working hours in the case of room-related regulating units, such as for instance in hospitals or hotel buildings, or cabin-related regulating units in cruisers. After this the air flow is conventionally regulated with the actual actuating mechanism to obtain the desired temperature.

[0004] Various embodiments of the invention are described in the dependent claims of the set of claims.

[0005] The invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which
figure 1
shows the regulating unit as an open oblique top view,
figure 2
shows the actuating mechanism and the presetting arms and
figure 3
shows an axonometric view of the presetting arm.

[0006] The air conditioner regulating unit comprises a housing 1, to which inlet and outlet air ducts 2, 3, 4, 5 have been connected. The regulating unit comprises air flow regulators consisting of perforated plates 6, 7, having shiftable throttle plates 8, 9 on their surfaces. The throttle plates can be shifted by means of the actuating mechanism 10 as indicated by arrow 11 to regulate the air flow of the regulating unit. Presetting devices 12 for the air conditioner are provided between the throttle plates 8, 9 and the actuating mechanism 10. By presetting the throttle plates 8 and 9, the free area of the perforated plates 6 and 7 can be adjusted so as to comply with the desired maximum ratio of pressure to air flow.

[0007] There are two presetting devices 12, one for supply air and another for used air. The presetting devices 12 are connected to the same actuating mechanism 10. The presetting device 12 consists of an arm whose length is steplessly adjustable and which can be locked with screws 13 after presetting has been accomplished. The arm has a scale 14 enabling presetting to be performed based on the value obtained from the table.

Claims

1. An air conditioner regulating unit consisting of a housing (1) to which air inlet and/or outlet ducts (2, 3, 4, 5) have been connected and comprising an air flow regulator, such as a perforated plate (6, 7) having a shiftable throttle plate (8, 9) on its surface, the throttle plate being adjustable with the actuating mechanism (10) to regulate the air flow of the regulating unit, characterised in that an air conditioner presetting device (12) is provided between the throttle plate (8, 9) and the actuating mechanism.

2. An air conditioner regulating unit as defined in claim 1, characterised in that there are two presetting devices (12), one for supply air and another for used air, and that the presetting devices (12) have been connected to the same actuating mechanism (10).

3. An air conditioner regulating unit as defined in claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the presetting device (12) consists of an arm whose length is steplessly adjustable and which can be locked with a screw (13) after presetting has been accomplished.

4. An air conditioner regulating unit as defined in any of the preceding claims, characterised in that the presetting arm is equipped with a graduated scale (14).
