(54) A core pipe for a sheet roll

(57) It is desired to prevent misalignment of the edges of a folded sheet by smoothly feeding the sheet while keeping tension fluctuations to a minimum when the sheet is unwound from a paper roll (R) set in a paper feed unit to a packaging unit even though the paper roll diameter decreases gradually as the sheet is unwound. A core pipe (P) for a sheet roll is provided comprising a hollow core pipe having a predetermined length for winding a sheet therearound, and magnets (24) provided on the inner periphery of said hollow core pipe near one end thereof at angular intervals determined such that the amount and diameter of the sheet roll wound therearound can be calculated by an angle sensor (25) provided on a fixed shaft (1b), said hollow core pipe being rotatable together with a hollow shaft (1c) rotatably mounted around said fixed shaft. Accordingly, the sheet tension is adjusted to an optimum, constant level by controlling the sheet braking force stepwise according to the roll diameter measured by the sensors.
