(57) Operation mechanism for venetian blinds which simultaneously tries to reduce the size of the mechanism and to increase its simplicity and the sturdiness of its component parts, for which the transmission system from the input tubular cogwheel, operated by the tubular control rod by a cardan joint in order to adjust the inclination of the vanes, consists of a second cogwheel of a considerably smaller diameter which engages the former and which is coaxial to a spindle which acts on the output cogwheel, which is keyed to the shaft which turns the vanes.
