(54) Pipe-shaped catalyst construction for exhaust gas purification


(57) The present invention intends to provide a pipe-shaped catalyst construction 10 which has high catalyst ability and which is excellent in high temperature resisting character, in a pipe-shaped catalyst construction. It is comprised of a pipe-shaped supporting body including a metallic pipe 11 and a cylindrical metallic foil 12 contained therein and provided with plural concaved portions 13 formed circumferentially, and a catalyst material 19 supported on the metallic foil.
In such catalyst construction, the metallic foil 12 is disposed along an inner peripheral surface of the pipe 11 except for a central portion of the metallic pipe in section. Also, rate of a central sectional area portion where the metallic foil 2 is not disposed to a whole sectional area of the pipe 11 defined by the inner peripheral surface of the pipe is selected to be 20 % to 60 %.
