BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a navigation system for carrying out a navigation
operation by using map data recorded in a record medium, and more particularly relates
to a navigation system having a hard disc for storing the map data.
2. Description of the Related Art
[0002] There is a navigation system, which has a DVD-ROM (DVD-Read Only Memory) drive or
a CD-ROM (Compact Disc - Read Only Memory) drive, reads map data stored in a DVD-ROM
or a CD-ROM as a record medium, and carries out a navigation operation. When carrying
out the navigation operation, the navigation system detects a self-car position, reads
the map data around the car from the record medium, and then displays a map picture
generated on the basis of the map data together with a mark indicative of the self-car
position on a display screen.
[0003] By the way, a record medium such as a DVD-ROM or the like is available it which music
data and video data are recorded in a format of DVD-Video or DVD-Audio. Thus, it is
desired to perform a reproduction of such a record medium during a car driving operation.
However, the above-mentioned navigation system requires that the record medium in
which the map data is stored is always inserted in the DVD-ROM drive or the like during
the navigation operation. Namely, the DVD-ROM drive or the like is occupied by the
record medium for the navigation operation. Hence, it is difficult to use the DVD-ROM
drive or the like for another purpose such as a reproduction of the music data or
video data.
[0004] On the other hand, it may be considered that the navigation system is equipped with,
for example, a hard disc, as a non-volatile memory having a large capacity, besides
the record medium. If the entire data of the DVD-ROM or the like is perfectly installed
in the hard disc, and then the map data is read from the hard disc at a time of the
navigation operation, the DVD-ROM or the like can be used for another purpose. Also,
since an access speed for the hard disc is very fast, this has a merit from the viewpoint
of a fast drawing on a display screen.
[0005] However, it takes a considerable time to carry out an installation operation from
the record medium, such as the DVD-ROM or the like, to the hard disc. Also, this operation
is troublesome for a user. Moreover, the DVD-ROM has a large capacity. For example,
it has 4.7 Gigabytes in a case of a one-surface one-layer type, and it has 8.5 Gigabytes
in a case of a one-surface two-layer type. Thus, correspondingly to a storage capacity
or a memory capacity thereof, it is necessary to reserve a large storage area in the
hard disc. Hence, when the hard disc is used for another purpose, this brings about
enormous uselessness.
[0006] On the other hand, it may be considered that the map data is transferred from the
record medium, such as the DVD-ROM or the like, to the hard disc during the navigation
operation as the occasion demands, the processing performance of the navigation system
is extremely- aroppeCl. That is, if a CPU of the navigation system always controls
the transferring process, its process load becomes excessive. For example, a trouble
is induced in the displaying process at a time of the navigation operation. Moreover,
if the transfer is once carried out through a buffer, an inner bus is occupied, so
that a trouble is induced even in another data transferring operation. In this way,
the process of transferring the map data to the hard disc as mentioned above cannot
be freely carried out because of a restriction or limitation on the process in the
navigation system, which is a problem.
[0007] German patent Nr. DE 198 03 253 A discloses a navigation system comprising a GPS
receiver adapted to detect the present position. The system comprises a first memory
device consisting of a reading device including a CD-ROM drive for reading out map
data. Furthermore the system comprises a second memory device of non-volatile type
for reading/writing data from/to an included hard disk. A navigation (controlling)
device within the system is adapted to control the navigation operation in correspondence
with the detected present position by using map data and data stored in the second
memory device, in which data are stored like start point, destination point, time
data and so on. The control device is adapted to read out map data from the first
memory device and to write data inputted by a user via an operational device into
the second memory device containing position data based on GPS and autonomous navigation.
[0008] Japanese patent Nr. JP 06 131292 A describes a system, in which a read address and
a write address from a CPU are set in registers provided in a bus controller, which
transfers data to and from the main memory (MM) according to those read address and
write address. In this case, data transfer from a data transfer source area of the
main memory to a data transfer destination area is performed through another register
provided in the bus controller.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0009] The present invention is proposed in view of the above mentioned problems. It is
therefore an object of the present invention to provide a navigation system, which
has a hard disc and can automatically transfer map data required for the navigation
operation to the hard disc, without applying an excessive load on a CPU and without
giving a bad influence on another process.
[0010] The above object of the present invention can be achieved by a first navigation system
of the present invention provided with: a present position detecting device for detecting
a present position; a first memory device for reading map data from a record medium
in which the map data is recorded; a second memory device of non-volatile type, to
which the map data can be written and from which the map data can be read; a navigation
controlling device for controlling a navigation operation in correspondence with the
detected present position by using the map data, and sending a transfer command to
transfer the map data from the first memory device to the second memory device at
a predetermined timing; and a transfer interface for controlling an operation of reading
the map data from the record medium by the first memory device and an operation of
transferring the map data to the second memory device, in accordance with the sent
transfer command.
[0011] According to the first navigation system of the present invention, the navigation
system is provided with the first memory device using the DVD-ROM, CD-ROM or the like,
and the second memory device such as the hard disc or the like. The navigation controlling
device sends the transfer command of the map data to the transfer interface at the
predetermined timing while controlling the navigation operation in correspondence
with the present position such as a self-car position. The transfer interface controls
in accordance with the received transfer command so that the map data is read from
the record medium by the first memory device, and is then transferred to the second
memory device.
[0012] Therefore, in case that the map data is transferred to the second memory device,
even if the record medium is not always set in the first memory device, the navigation
operation can be continued. Further, since the map data is automatically transferred
by the transfer command, and since it is not necessary for the navigation controlling
device such as a CPU to intervene in the transferring process itself afterward, it
is possible not to increase the processing load on the navigation controlling device
and perform the processes necessary for the navigation operation smoothly. Thus, it
is possible to efficiently use the map data by performing the transferring process
without influencing the process of the navigation system.
[0013] In one aspect of the first navigation system of the present invention, the map data
read from the record medium by the first memory device is sent through the transfer
interface to the second memory.
[0014] According to this aspect, upon transferring the map data, the transfer interface
obtains the map data read from the first memory device and transfers it as it is to
the second memory device. Thus, since the map data is not passed through the internal
bus etc., and is transferred by the transfer interface, the input and output of the
data through the internal bus etc., required for another process is not interrupted.

interface comprises: a command converting device for converting a type of the sent
transfer command to thereby generate a command, which is identifiable by the first
memory device and the second memory device; and a transfer controlling device for

to the second memory device, on the basis of the generated command.

converts the type or format of the received transfer command and thereby generates
the command based on the predetermined interface standard. Then, the transfer interface
reads the map data from the list memory device in accordance with this command, and
then transfers and stores it into the second memory device. Thus, since the navigation
controlling device does not have to control each of the memory devices individually
and since the transfer command is automatically converted into the desired command,
the load of the process accompanied by the navigation control is further reduced.

be further provided with a buffer memory device for transiently storing the map data,
and the transfer controlling device may control the operation of transferring the
map data from the first memory device to the buffer memory device and an operation

the map data surely at the desirable timing.

without performing complex processes by virtue of the read command.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

as the embodiment. The navigation system shown in FIG. 1 is provided with a CPU 11,

CPU 11 is connected through an inner bus 10 to the respective constitutional elements
of the navigation system. At a proper timing, the CPU 11 inputs and outputs data and
a control signal through the inner bus 10. The CPU 11 reads a control program stored
in the ROM 12 through the inner bus 10. The CPU 11 carries out the control program
while transiently storing data, which is currently being processed, into the RAM 13.
The CPU 11 functions as one example of a navigation controlling device of the present

invention, contains a DVD-ROM 1 for storing the map data, and carries out an operation
of reading the map data. The DVD-ROM 1 is a record medium having a large storage capacity,

in case of the one-surface two-layer type. Pits corresponding to the record data are
formed on the DVD-ROM 1 The record data is read by using an optical pickup of the

for a navigation operation. Moreover, various related data, such as related facility
data, name data and the like are stored while they are correlated with the road situation
data. In this embodiment, the entire map is divided into blocks, as meshed unit areas.
The map data corresponding to each block is managed as each "block map data". A plurality
of block map data are recorded in the DVD-ROM 1.
[0060] FIG. 2 is a diagram explaining a concept of the block serving as a division unit
of the map data in the DVD-ROM 1. As shown in FIG. 2, the map data of the DVD-ROM
1 is divided into respective meshed blocks, such that the entire area on the map is
divided into M blocks in the east and west directions and N blocks in the south and
north directions, and is managed. In FIG. 2, a block (i. j) is defined as a block
at a grid i from the west and at a grid j from the north. A total of MXN blocks having
the same shape are gathered from a block (1,1) in the northwest corner to a block
(M, N) in the southeast corner, and constitute the entire map data.
[0061] In FIG. 2, it is described that the entire area on the map is rectangular, and further,
a block at each unit is also a rectangular area. Actually, there may be a case of
dealing with a map having a complex entire shape. So, the shapes of the respective
blocks are not limited to the same shape. In the following explanation, it is assumed
that the respective blocks are the rectangular areas having the same shape, for the
purpose of easy illustration. However, the present invention can be applied to a case
that the shape of the block is more complex.
[0062] FIG. 3 is a diagram showing an example of a data structure when the map data at each
block unit shown in FIG. 2 is recorded in the DVD-ROM 1. In FIG. 3, each block map
data includes the road situation data of each block and the related data associated
with it. A particular name is given to each block map data at each block, so as to
be identified. A plurality of block map data are sequentially arranged and recorded
in the DVD-ROM 1, as for the respective MX N blocks. A data order of the block map
data shown in FIG. 3 is only one example. They may be stored in a data order different
from it. Also, they may be stored in a different storage area for each data type of
each block.
[0063] In FIG. 1 again, the hard disc 15 is a non-volatile type memory for reading and writing
the various data such as the map data and the like, and functions as one example of
a second memory device of the present invention. In this embodiment, the hard disc
15 can be used for many purposes, and can store therein the various data such as music
data, video data, an application program and the like. One portion of the hard disc
15 is assigned as a map data storage area 15a, which is as an area for the storage
and the transfer of the map data of the DVD-ROM 1 through the transfer interface 30.
For example, about 1 to 2 Gigabytes in the hard disc 15 may be assigned to the map
data storage area 15a- As the storage capacity of the hard disc 15 becomes the larger,
the larger storage capacity may be assigned to the map data storage area 15a. Also,
a user may arbitrarily set the storage capacity of the map data storage area 15a.
The transfer of the map data to the hard disc 15 will be described later in detail.
[0064] The sensor unit 16 is provided with various sensors required to detect a self-car
position. Actually, it contains a car speed sensor, a travel distance sensor and an
azimuth sensor to detect a travel situation of the car and the like. The GPS receiver
17 receives an electric wave from a GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite, and
outputs measurement data. The sensor unit 16 and the GPS receiver 17 function as one
example of a self-car position detector, in cooperation with the CPU 11.

data, on the basis of the measurement data from the GPS receiver 17 and sensor outputs

map data by the CPU 11, and is corrected by using a map matching process and the like.

in the navigation operation.

on the display device 20, in various manners under a control of the display controller

device 20. While transiently storing the display data into the buffer memory 22, the
display controller 21 reads the display data from the buffer memory 22 at a proper
timing, and outputs and displays it on the display device 20.

of the CPU 11. The audio signal amplified to a proper level by the audio process circuit
23 is outputted as a sound from the speaker 24 to an external portion. As such an
audio signal, for example, there is a guidance voice to guide a route for the car.
[0069] The transfer interface 30 transfers the map data recorded in the DVD-ROM 1 from the
DVD-ROM drive 14 to the map data storage area 15a of the hard disc 15, at the proper

control of the CPU 11, the transfer interface 30 reads the map data from the DVD-ROM
1 or the hard disc 15, and then outputs it through the inner bus 10 for the displaying
process to the display device 20.

reference to a block diagram in FIG. 4. As shown in FIG. 4, the transfer interface
30 is provided with a transfer controller 31, a command converter 32, an address generator

a first memory device (14) for reading map data from a record medium (1) in which
the map data is recorded;
a second memory device (15) of non-volatile type, to which the map data can be written
and from which the map data can be read;
a navigation controlling device (11) for controlling a navigation operation in correspondence
with the detected present position by using the map data, and sending a transfer command
to transfer the map data from said first memory device to said second memory device
at a predetermined timing; and characterised by
a transfer interface (30) for controlling an operation of reading the map data from
said record medium by said first memory device and an operation of transferring the
map data to said second memory device, in accordance with the sent transfer command.
2. A navigation system according to Claim 1, characterized in that the map data read from said record medium (1) by said first memory device (14) is
sent through said transfer interface (30) to said second memory.
3. A navigation system according to Claim 1,
characterized in that said transfer interface (30) comprises:
a command converting device (32) for converting a type of the sent transfer command
to thereby generate a command, which is identifiable by said first memory device (14)
and said second memory device (15); and
a transfer controlling device (31) for controlling the operation of transferring the
map data from said first memory device to said second memory device, on the basis
of the generated command.
4. A navigation system according to Claim 3, characterized in that
said transfer interface (30) further comprises a buffer memory device (34) for transiently
storing the map data, and
said transfer controlling device (31) controls the operation of transferring the map
data from said first memory device (14) to said buffer memory device and an operation
of transferring the map data from said buffer memory device to said second memory
device (15), on the basis of the generated command.
5. A navigation system according to Claim 3, characterized in that said transfer controlling device (31) divides the map data into a plurality of unit
data each comprising a predetermined unit data amount and transfers the map data by
repeating an operation of transferring the unit data by a plurality of times.
6. A navigation system according to Claim 3, characterized in that said command converting device (32) generates a plurality of commands by converting
a type of the sent transfer command.
7. A navigation system according to Claim 5, characterized in that the predetermined unit data amount is substantially equal to a storage capacity of
said buffer memory device (34).
8. A navigation system according to Claim 4, characterized in that said transfer interface (30) further comprises an address generating device (33)
for generating an address for said transfer controlling device (31) to access said
buffer memory device (34).
9. A navigation system according to Claim 3, characterized in that said transfer controlling device (31) outputs a signal, which is to identify an end
of the operation of transferring the map data, to said navigation controlling device
(11).
10. A navigation system according to Claim 1, characterized in that said second memory device (15) is capable of writing and reading the map data at
an access speed faster than that of said first memory device (14).
11. A navigation system according to Claim 10, characterized in that said second memory device (15) comprises a hard disc device.
12. A navigation system according to any one of Claims 1 to 4,
characterized in that
a plurality of block map data, which are obtained by dividing a whole map for each
unit block, are recorded in said record medium (1), and
said transfer interface (30) reads the block map data and transfers the read block
map data to said second memory device (15).
13. A navigation system according to Claim 12, characterized in that said transfer interface (30) further comprises a buffer memory device (34), which
has a storage capacity capable of storing at least one block map data, for transiently
storing the block map data.
14. A navigation system according to Claim 12, characterized in that said navigation controlling device (11) judges whether or not each block map data
to be transferred is already stored in said second memory device (15), and controls
said transfer interface (30) to transfer the block map data which is not judged to
be stored in said second memory device yet.
15. A navigation system according to Claim 12, characterized in that said navigation controlling device (11) controls said transfer interface (30) to
transfer a plurality of block map data corresponding to a plurality of peripheral
unit blocks with respect to one unit block including the present position as a standard.
16. A navigation system according to Claim 12, characterized in that said navigation controlling device (11) controls said transfer interface (30) to
transfer a plurality of block map data corresponding to a plurality of unit blocks
including an optimal route from the present position to a destination.
17. A navigation system according to Claim 1, characterized in that said navigation controlling device (11) controls said transfer interface (30) to
transfer the map data corresponding to a predetermined area defined in accordance
with the detected present position.
18. A navigation system according to Claim 1, characterized in that said navigation controlling device (11) sends the transfer command each time when
a movable body, the present position of which is detected, is moved for a predetermined
distance.
19. A navigation system according to Claim 1, characterized in that
said navigation controlling device (11) sends a read command to read the map data
as the transfer command, and
said transfer interface (30) reads the map data from said first or second memory device
(15) in accordance with the sent read command.
20. A navigation system comprising:
a present position detecting device (16, 17) for detecting a present position;
a first memory device (14) for reading map data from a record medium (1) in which
the map data is recorded;
a second memory device (15) of non-volatile type, to which the map data can be written
and from which the map data can be read; characterised by
a transfer interface (30) for controlling an operation of reading the map data from
said record medium by said first memory device or said second memory device, in accordance
with a read command to read the map data; and
a navigation controlling device (11) for controlling a navigation operation in correspondence
with the detected present position by using the map data, which is read under a control
of said transfer interface, and sending the read command at a predetermined timing.
21. A navigation system according to Claim 20, characterized in that the read command is appended with identification information, which identifies whether
or not the map data is to be read from said record medium (1) by said first memory
device (14) or said second memory device (15).
1. Navigationssystem aufweisend:
eine tatsächliche-Position-Erfassungsvorrichtung (16,17) zum Erfassen einer tatsächlichen
Position;
eine erste Speichervorrichtung (14) zum Lesen von Kartendaten aus einem Aufzeichnungsmedium
(1), in dem die Kartendaten aufgezeichnet sind;
eine zweite Speichervorrichtung (15) eines nichtflüchtigen Typs, in den die Kartendaten
geschrieben werden können und von dem die Kartendaten gelesen werden können;
eine Navigations-Steuerungsvorrichtung (11) zum Steuern eines Navigationsvorgangs
gemäß der detektierten tatsächlichen Position unter Verwendung der Kartendaten, und
Senden einer Übermittlungsanweisung zum Übermitteln der Kartendaten von der ersten
Speichervorrichtung an die zweite Speichervorrichtung zu einem vorgegebenen Zeitpunkt;
und gekennzeichnet durch
eine Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) zum Steuern eines Vorgangs des Lesens der Kartendaten
aus dem Aufzeichnungsmedium mittels der ersten Speichervorrichtung und eines Vorgangs
des Übermittelns der Kartendaten an die zweite Speichervorrichtung gemäß der gesendeten
Übermittlungsanweisung.
2. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die die aus dem Aufzeichnungsmedium (1) mittels der ersten Speichervorrichtung (14)
ausgelesenen Kartendaten durch die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) an den zweiten
Speicher gesendet sind.
3. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 1,
gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) aufweist:
eine Anweisungs-Umwandlungsvorrichtung (32) zum Umwandeln eines Typs der gesendeten
Übermittlungsanweisung um dadurch eine Anweisung zu erzeugen, die von der ersten Speichervorrichtung (14) und der zweiten
Speichervorrichtung (15) identifizierbar ist; und
eine Übermittlungs-Steuerungsvorrichtung (31) zum Steuern des Vorgangs des Übermittelns
der Kartendaten von der ersten Speichervorrichtung zu der zweiten Speichervorrichtung
auf der Basis der erzeugten Anweisung.
4. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 3, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass
die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) ferner eine Puffer-Speichervorrichtung (34) zum
vorübergehenden Speichern der Kartendaten aufweist, und
die Übermittlungs-Steuerungsvorrichtung (31) den Vorgang des Übermittelns der Kartendaten
von der ersten Speichervorrichtung (14) an die Puffer-Speichervorrichtung und einen
Vorgang des Übermittelns der Kartendaten von der Puffer-Speichervorrichtung an die
zweite Speichervorrichtung (14) auf der Basis der erzeugten Anweisung steuert.
5. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 3, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Übermittlungs-Steuerungsvorrichtung (31) die Kartendaten in eine Mehrzahl von
Einheitsdaten teilt, die eine vorgegebene Anzahl von Einheitsdaten und die Kartendaten
übermittelt, indem ein Vorgang des Übermittelns der Einheitsdaten mehrmals wiederholt
wird.
6. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 3, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Anweisungs-Umwandlungsvorrichtung (32) eine Mehrzahl von Anweisungen zum Umwandeln
eines Typs der gesendeten Übermittlungsanweisung erzeugt.
7. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 5, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die vorgegebene Einheitsdaten-Menge im Wesentlichen gleich einer Speicherkapazität
der Puffer-Speichervorrichtung (34) ist.
8. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 4, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) ferner eine Adressen-Erzeugungsvorrichtung (33)
zum Erzeugen einer Adresse für die Übermittlungs-Steuerungsvorrichtung (31) zum Zugreifen
auf die Puffer-Speichervorrichtung (34) aufweist.
9. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 3, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Übermittlungs-Steuerungsvorrichtung (31) ein Signal ausgibt, das zum Identifizieren
eines Endes des Vorgangs des Übermittelns der Kartendaten für die Navigations-Steuerungsvorrichtung
(11) ist.
10. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die zweite Speichervorrichtung (15) zum Schreiben und Lesen der Kartendaten mit einer
Zugriffsgeschwindigkeit fähig ist, die schneller ist als die der ersten Speichervorrichtung.
11. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 10, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die zweite Speichervorrichtung (15) eine Festplatten-Vorrichtung aufweist.
12. Navigationssystem gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass
eine Mehrzahl von Block-Kartendaten, die erhalten sind, indem eine Gesamtkarte für
jeden Einheitsblock geteilt ist, in dem Aufzeichnungsmedium (1) aufgezeichnet sind,
und
die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) die Block-Kartendaten liest und die gelesenen
Block-Kartendaten zu der zweiten Speichervorrichtung (15) übermittelt.
13. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 12, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) ferner eine Puffer-Speichervorrichtung (34) zum
vorübergehenden Speichern der Block-Kartendaten aufweist, mit einer Speicherkapazität,
die fähig ist, wenigstens eine der Block-Kartendaten zu speichern.
14. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 12, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Navigations-Steuerungsvorrichtung (11) beurteilt, ob alle zu übermittelnden Block-Kartendaten
schon in dem zweiten Speichervorrichtung (15) gespeichert sind, oder nicht, und die
Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) zum Übermitteln der Block-Kartendaten steuert, über
die geurteilt ist, dass sie noch nicht in der zweiten Speichervorrichtung gespeichert
sind.
15. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 12, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Navigations-Steuerungsvorrichtung (11) die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) zum
Übermitteln einer Mehrzahl von Block-Kartendaten steuert, die einer Mehrzahl von peripheren
Einheitsblöcken bezüglich eines Einheitsblocks entsprechen, der die tatsächliche Position
als Standard aufweist.
16. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 12, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Navigations-Steuerungsvorrichtung (11) die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) zum
Übermitteln einer Mehrzahl von Block-Kartendaten steuert, die einer Mehrzahl von Einheitsblöcken
entsprechen, die eine optimale Route von der tatsächlichen Position zu einem ziel
aufweisen.
17. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Navigations-Steuerungsvorrichtung (11) die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) zum
Übermitteln der Kartendaten steuert, die einem vorgegebenen Bereich entsprechen, der
gemäß der detektierten tatsächlichen Position definiert ist.
18. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass die Navigations-Steuerungsvorrichtung (11) die Übermittlungsanweisung jedes Mal sendet,
wenn ein bewegbarer Körper, dessen tatsächliche Position detektiert wird, um eine
vorgegebene Strecke bewegt wird.
19. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 1, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass
die Navigations-Steuerungsvorrichtung (11) eine Leseanweisung zum Lesen der Kartendaten
als Übermittlungsanweisung sendet, und
die Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) die Kartendaten aus der ersten oder zweiten Speichervorrichtung
(15) gemäß der gesendeten Leseanweisung liest.
20. Navigationssystem aufweisend:
eine tatsächliche-Position-Erfassungsvorrichtung (16, 17) zum Erfassen einer tatsächlichen
Position;
eine erste Speichervorrichtung (14) zum Lesen von Kartendaten aus einem Aufzeichnungsmedium
(1), in dem die Kartendaten aufgezeichnet sind;
eine zweite Speichervorrichtung (15) eines nichtflüchtigen Typs, in den die Kartendaten
geschrieben werden können und von dem die Kartendaten gelesen werden können; gekennzeichnet durch
eine Übermittlungsschnittstelle (30) zum Steuern eines Vorgangs des Lesens der Kartendaten
aus dem Aufzeichnungsmedium mittels der ersten Speichervorrichtung oder der zweiten
Speichervorrichtung gemäß einer Leseanweisung zum Lesen der Kartendaten; und
eine Navigations-Steuerungsvorrichtung (11) zum Steuern eines Navigationsvorgangs
gemäß der detektierten tatsächlichen Position unter Verwendung der Kartendaten, die
unter einer Steuerung der Übermittlungsschnittstelle gelesen sind, und Senden der
gelesenen Anweisung zu einem vorgegebenen Zeitpunkt.
21. Navigationssystem gemäß Anspruch 20, gekennzeichnet dadurch, dass an die Leseanweisung Identifikationsinformationen angehängt sind, die identifizieren,
ob die Kartendaten aus dem Aufzeichnungsmedium (1) mittels der ersten Speichervorrichtung
(14) oder der zweiten Speichervorrichtung (15) zu lesen sind.

un dispositif de détection de position actuelle (16, 17) destiné à détecter une position
actuelle ;
un premier dispositif de mémoire (14) destiné à lire des données cartographiques à
partir d'un support d'enregistrement (1) dans lequel les données cartographiques sont
enregistrées ;
un second dispositif de mémoire (15) de type non volatile, dans lequel les données
cartographiques peuvent être écrites et à partir duquel les données cartographiques
peuvent être lues ;
un dispositif de commande de navigation (11) destiné à commander une opération de
navigation en fonction de la position actuelle détectée au moyen des données cartographiques,
et envoyer un ordre de transfert pour transférer les données cartographiques du premier
dispositif de mémoire au second dispositif de mémoire à un rythme prédéterminé ; et
caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend :
une interface de transfert (30) destinée à commander une opération de lecture des
données cartographiques à partir dudit support d'enregistrement au moyen dudit premier
dispositif de mémoire et une opération de transfert de données cartographiques jusqu'au
dit second dispositif de mémoire, conformément à l'ordre de transfert envoyé.
2. Système de navigation selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que les données cartographiques lues à partir dudit support d'enregistrement (1) au moyen
dudit premier dispositif de mémoire (14) sont envoyées par l'intermédiaire de ladite
interface de transfert (30) jusqu'au dit second dispositif de mémoire.
3. Système de navigation selon la revendication 1,
caractérisé en ce que ladite interface de transfert (30) comprend :
un dispositif de conversion d'ordre (32) destiné à convertir un type d'ordre parmi
les ordres de transfert envoyés pour générer ainsi un ordre qui est identifiable par
ledit premier dispositif de mémoire (14) et ledit second dispositif de mémoire (15)
; et
un dispositif de commande de transfert (31) destiné à commander l'opération de transfert
des données cartographiques dudit premier dispositif de mémoire audit second dispositif
de mémoire, sur la base de l'ordre généré.
4. Système de navigation selon la revendication 3,
caractérisé en ce que:
ladite interface de transfert (30) comprend en outre un dispositif de mémoire tampon
(34) destiné à stocker de manière transitoire les données cartographiques, et
ledit dispositif de commande de transfert (31) commande l'opération de transfert des
données cartographiques dudit premier dispositif de mémoire (14) audit dispositif
de mémoire tampon et une opération de transfert des données cartographiques dudit
dispositif de mémoire tampon audit second dispositif de mémoire (15), sur la base
de l'ordre généré.
5. Système de navigation selon la revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de commande de transfert (31) divise les données cartographiques
en une pluralité d'unités de données comprenant chacune une quantité d'unités de données
prédéterminées, et transfère les données cartographiques en répétant une pluralité
de fois une opération de transfert des unités de données.
6. Système de navigation selon la revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de conversion d'ordre (32) génère une pluralité d'ordres en convertissant
un type de l'ordre de transfert envoyé.
7. Système de navigation selon la revendication 5, caractérisé en ce que la quantité d'unités de données prédéterminée est sensiblement égale à une capacité
de stockage dudit dispositif de mémoire tampon (34).
8. Système de navigation selon la revendication 4, caractérisé en ce que ladite interface de transfert (30) comprend en outre un dispositif de génération
d'adresse (33) destiné à générer une adresse pour ledit dispositif de commande de
transfert (31) afin d'accéder audit dispositif de mémoire tampon (34).
9. Système de navigation selon la revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de commande de transfert (31) délivre en sortie un signal, qui est
destiné à identifier une fin de l'opération de transfert des données cartographiques,
jusqu'au dit dispositif de commande de navigation (11).
10. Système de navigation selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que ledit second dispositif de mémoire (15) est capable d'écrire et de lire les données
cartographiques à une vitesse d'accès plus rapide que celle dudit premier dispositif
de mémoire (14).
11. Système de navigation selon la revendication 10, caractérisé en ce que ledit second dispositif de mémoire (15) comprend un dispositif formant disque dur.
12. Système de navigation selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4,
caractérisé en ce que :
une pluralité de blocs de données cartographiques, qui sont obtenus en divisant une
carte entière pour chaque unité de blocs, sont enregistrés dans ledit support d'enregistrement
(1), et
ladite interface de transfert (30) lit les blocs de données cartographiques et transfère
le bloc de données cartographiques lu vers ledit second dispositif de mémoire (15).
13. Système de navigation selon la revendication 12, caractérisé en ce que ladite interface de transfert (30) comprend en outre un dispositif de mémoire tampon
(34), qui a une capacité de stockage capable de stocker au moins un bloc de données
cartographiques, pour stocker de manière transitoire le bloc de données cartographiques.
14. Système de navigation selon la revendication 12, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de commande de navigation (11) détermine si chaque bloc de données
cartographiques à transférer est ou non déjà stocké dans ledit second dispositif de
mémoire (15), et commande ladite interface de transfert (30) pour transférer le bloc
de données cartographiques qui n'est pas déterminé comme étant déjà stocké dans ledit
second dispositif de mémoire.
15. Système de navigation selon la revendication 12, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de commande de navigation (11) commande ladite interface de transfert
(30) pour transférer une pluralité de blocs de données cartographiques correspondant
à une pluralité d'unités de blocs périphériques par rapport à une unité de blocs incluant
la position actuelle comme référence.
16. Système de navigation selon la revendication 12, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de commande de navigation (11) commande ladite interface de transfert
(30) pour transférer une pluralité de blocs de données cartographiques correspondant
à une pluralité d'unités de blocs incluant un itinéraire optimal partant de la position
actuelle jusqu'à une destination.
17. Système de navigation selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de commande de navigation (11) commande ladite interface de transfert
(30) pour transférer les données cartographiques correspondant à une zone prédéterminée
définie conformément à la position actuelle détectée.
18. Système de navigation selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif de commande de navigation (11) envoie à chaque fois l'ordre de transfert
lorsqu'un corps mobile, dont la position actuelle est détectée, est déplacé sur une
distance prédéterminée.
19. Système de navigation selon la revendication 1,
caractérisé en ce que :
ledit dispositif de commande de navigation (11) envoie un ordre de lecture pour lire
les données cartographiques en tant qu'ordre de transfert, et
ladite interface de transfert (30) lit les données cartographiques à partir dudit
premier ou second dispositif de mémoire (15) conformément à l'ordre de lecture envoyé.
20. Système de navigation comprenant :
un dispositif de détection de position actuelle (16, 17) destiné à détecter une position
actuelle ;
un premier dispositif de mémoire (14) destiné à lire des données cartographiques à
partir d'un support d'enregistrement (1) dans lequel les données cartographiques sont
enregistrées ;
un second dispositif de mémoire (15) de type non volatile, dans lequel les données
cartographiques peuvent être écrites et à partir duquel les données cartographiques
peuvent être lues ; caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend :
une interface de transfert (30) destinée à commander une opération de lecture des
données cartographiques à partir dudit support d'enregistrement au moyen dudit premier
dispositif de mémoire ou dudit second dispositif de mémoire, conformément à un ordre
de lecture pour lire les données cartographiques ; et
un dispositif de commande de navigation (11) destiné à commander une opération de
navigation en fonction de la position actuelle détectée au moyen des données cartographiques,
qui sont lues sous une commande de ladite interface de transfert, et envoyer l'ordre
lu à un rythme prédéterminé.
21. Système de navigation selon la revendication 20, caractérisé en ce que l'ordre d'écriture est joint à des informations d'identification qui identifient
si les données cartographiques doivent ou non être lues à partir dudit support d'enregistrement
(1) au moyen dudit premier dispositif de mémoire (14) ou au moyen dudit second dispositif
de mémoire (15).
