(54) Electronic prayer device

(57) The invention relates to an electronic prayer device (100) for use in a vehicle. It comprises storage means for storing a pre-recorded prayer, playback means for playing the pre-recorded prayer through a loudspeaker (10) within the vehicle, and activation means for switching off the playback means after a predetermined interval.
The prayer is preferably recorded in a plurality of languages such as Arabic, French and English.

Description

[0001] This invention relates to an electronic prayer device for use on a motor vehicle, such as a car, a truck or a bus.

[0002] Travelling by these means of transport always carries the risk of mishap such as accident or breakdown. Therefore the driver and passengers of the vehicle will naturally wish to pray for a safe and smooth journey and receive God's blessing. This invention aims to provide a reminder and aid to such prayer.

[0003] According to the invention, an electronic prayer device for use on a vehicle comprises storage means for storing a pre-recorded prayer, playback means for playing the pre-recorded prayer through a loudspeaker within the vehicle, and activation means for switching on the playback means in response to engine ignition and for switching off the playback means after a predetermined interval.

[0004] The storage means only comprises a mask integrated circuit with a pre-recorded prayer in it and hasn't any other alternative audio recording medium.

[0005] The prayer is preferably recorded in a plurality of languages such as Arabic, French and English. In one embodiment, the device is programmable so that the user may select the language to be heard.

[0006] The playback means may be integral to the device. It is a plastic case including loudspeaker (with wire connector), amplifier, electronic printed circuit board (with chip integrated circuit to prerecord a prayer and amplifier to amplify the signal from chip integrated circuit), some buttons (with external wires) and housing.

[0007] The activation means suitably comprises the vehicle ignition key switch and an electronic timer for counting the predetermined interval.

[0008] For a better understanding of the present invention, reference is made to the accompanying drawings, which are incorporated herein by reference and in which:

Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of a device to implement the present invention;

Figure 2 is a representation of a preferred embodiment according to the invention.

[0009] Detailed description of the preferred embodiment is provided herein. It is to be understood, however, that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for teaching one skilled in the art to practice the present invention with appropriate structure or equivalent.

[0010] By reference now to the drawings, Figure 1 shows, by way of example, a schematic diagram of a prayer device to implement the present invention. The prayer device 100 is connected between ground and the positive rod of a vehicle battery 110, through a connector 120 and the vehicle ignition key switch 130. A safety fuse 140 may be provided in series connection with the prayer device 100. The connector 120 allows the connection of this circuit to the general electric circuit 150 of the vehicle. Obviously, the negative rod of the vehicle battery 110 is connected to ground.

[0011] Now referring to Figure 2, the device 110 includes a loudspeaker 10, volume control 11, chip integrated circuit (with electronic printed circuit board), not shown on the drawings, for instance located into the sucker 14 which holds the loudspeaker 10, and a pair of wires 12 for connection to the vehicle battery 110 and the ignition switch 130.

[0012] An activation means is provided for switching off the playback means after a predetermined interval. The activation means essentially includes an electronic timer.

[0013] The integrated circuit includes the storage means with the prerecorder prayer, and the printed circuit board includes the playback means, namely a reader of the storage means and an amplifier.

[0014] The sucker 14 may advantageously be fastened to a window glass of the vehicle, by suction, stick or clip. It may also be stuck everywhere suitable in the vehicle.

[0015] In one embodiment, the storage means used a 6 kHz sampling frequency, the output power was 0,5 Watt (at 1 kHz) with an operating DC voltage between 9 Volts and 28 Volts. The connection wire was between about 1,50 m and 3 m long (between about 6 feet and 10 feet). The playback interval set by the timer was approximately 16 seconds.

[0016] By way of example, the following messages may be recorded in Arabic, French and English, or in any other language :
"May God bless our departure and our arrival,
Allah is most merciful and forgiving. Amen."

[0017] The prayer device may also be programmable so that the user may select the language to be heard.

[0018] The skilled person will be readily able to implement the above-described principles of the invention using available technologies and knowledge. The invention may also be embodied in other specific forms not described herein without departing from the true scope of the following claims.

[0019] For instance, the prayer device of the invention may be designed in form of an internal unit suitable for mounting on a vehicle dashboard.

[0020] The playback means may also comprise one or more components that form part of the vehicle audio entertainment system, e.g. the loudspeaker and/or the amplifier.
