(54) Vehicle door latch undogging mechanism

(57) The door latch (10) has a rotatable fork bolt (30) that engages a striker pin (91). A detent (32) is pivotable into engagement with the fork bolt to latch the door latch. An intermittent lever (34) is pivotally attached to the detent. An unlatching lever (44) has an ear (46) that is pivotable into contact with a tab (48) on the intermittent lever to release the fork bolt. A pivotable locking lever (40) has a slot (41) that pivotally receives a pivot pin (38) on the intermittent lever. A cam surface (152) on the fork bolt engages the detent and moves the intermittent lever away from the fork bolt when the fork bolt is rotated toward a latched position by the striker pin. A cam follower (160) on the intermittent lever follows a cam surface (162) on the unlatching lever and moves the locking lever to an unlocked position. Holding an outside door handle in an open position when the door is closed moves the cam surface on the unlatching lever out of contact with the cam follower and leaves the locking lever locked.
