OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a drinking glass hygieniser, a device among means
meant to prevent direct contact with glasses used in public places such as bars, night
clubs or restaurants.
[0002] The present invention is characterised by two convex flaps attachable to the edge
of a glass, as well as by a fixation mechanism based on pressure exerted between the
two lips.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] Means usually employed to ensure a sufficient hygiene in consumption of drinks in
glasses rely on ensuring that these are free of germs when washed.
[0004] However, control of the hygiene of glasses and other ware depends on the server and
not on the consumer.
[0005] The applicant is not aware of any similar devices to ensure consumption with a high
level of hygiene based on devices such as the one disclosed in the present invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0006] The invention object of the present invention relates to a glass hygieniser consisting
of an injected part, although it may be formed by other means, which is provided with
means of fixation to the edge of a glass.
[0007] The device is designed to prevent and hinder contact of the user's lips with a glass
which has been previously used and for which hygiene cannot be assured.
[0008] The device comprises two flaps, one internal and one external, both convex so that
they adapt to the cylindrical or tronco-conical shape of the glass.
[0009] The external flap comes in contact with the lips and both flaps are joined at the
top by the surface which rests on the edge of the glass.
[0010] The separation between said flaps is greater than the thickness of the glass, and
they are nearer each other on their lower part so that they clamp onto the glass and
thus hold the device in place.
[0011] The external flap of the device has a surface which is sufficiently large to incorporate
advertising.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0012] The present description is aided by the accompanying drawings of a preferred embodiment
of the invention, for purposes of illustration only and in no way meant as a definition
of the limits of the invention.
[0013] Figure 1 is a perspective view of the glass with the device coupled to its edge.
[0014] Figures 2 shows an elevation, plan and profile view of the device.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0015] In view of the above, the present invention relates to a device to be coupled to
the edge of a glass and thereby prevent contact with the lips, to ensure a high level
of hygiene.
[0016] Said device (1) comprises two flaps adjacent to glass (2), one internal (1.1) and
one external (1.2).
[0017] These two flaps (1.1) and (1.2) are adapted as much as possible to a variety of glasses
(2), adopting a convex shape similar to the cylindrical tronco-conical surface of
the glass (2).
[0018] Their elevation reveals a lower arched edge, such that the front surface shown by
flap (1.2) spans at least the contact surface of the lips when drinking from glass
(2).
[0019] Union (1.3) between these two flaps (1.1) and (1.2) runs along the edge of glass
(2) and is wider than it, so that device (1) can be adapted to glasses (2) of a considerable
range of diameters.
[0020] The lower lips of internal flap (1.1) and external flap (1.2) have a smaller size
than that of union (1.3) so that a pressure is exerted on glass (2), thereby ensuring
attachment.
[0021] The essence of the invention is not altered by variations in materials, shape, size,
and arrangement of the component elements, described in a non-limiting manner, which
should be sufficient for reproduction by an expert in the field.
1. Drinking glass hygieniser to be placed on the edge of a glass and prevent direct contact
with it of the lips, characterised in that it consists of a single part (1) comprising two convex flaps, one internal (1.1)
and one external (1.2), with a curved lower edge and joined on their top by a transition
surface (1.3) to be placed on the edge of glass (2).
2. Drinking glass hygieniser as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the external flap (1.2) may bear advertising messages.
