(54) Tile

(57) Tile of the channel plus cover type, which comes with a horizontal short overlap (1), a narrow channel with a flat outer segment (2) and a grooved inner segment (3), a raised cover (4), with crown of the order of half the chord, its side being recessed (5), for butt and guidance of adjacent tiles, and also, a diversity of transversal ribs for strengthening of the cover zone and for support of the flashing zone, the lower extremity being skewed and the uppermost one acting as chock (6) and the lowest as gutter (7).

Description

PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The invention proposed herein consists of a tile, from among the different tiles which incorporate at the same time a channel and a cover, and also of those which come with one of their sides recessed.

[0002] This invention is characterised in a special design of the tile, fabricated in any usual material, which make possible its adaptation to roofs of different ridge angle, and which also has transversal ribs on its inside face and runs off water in a half-hidden manner, and which likewise has a side step on the cover zone, to serve as a stop and guide in the alignment of tiles with stepped contact between covers of closest tiles alongside, in the event that these be assembled in this disposition and not in courses of the same height.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The ceramic tile, termed Arabic for its origin, has historically been distinguished by its raised bridge characteristic and the typical and aesthetic channel-cover shape, it predates the concrete tile, more thick and flat, of more regular aesthetic appearance and offering easier and quicker roof construction.

[0004] The concrete tiles, in shape and construction, are distinguished from those of ceramic, apart from configuring roofs appreciably flatter, of different thickness and mean height, by the absence of side steps and the different disposition of the reinforcements on their inside face.

[0005] The mixed tile, plano-convex, arrived later, proving to be more easy to lay than the conventional Arab tile, though it does not admit the configurative versatility of roofs of the latter, presenting a different appearance from the Arab tile in the construction of roofs.

[0006] The applicant is unaware of the existence of tiles with the characteristics of that proposed herein, which combines the facility of laying of the concrete tile with the aesthetic shape of the channel-cover Arab tile.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0007] The invention object of the present specification is related to a highly raised tile, fabricated in any material, ceramic, concrete or other diverse materials, from among all those simple and right dihedral tiles, provided with a recessed side and which include both a channel sector and a cover one.

[0008] The channel is arranged, after a brief horizontal overlap, in a flat outer segment and grooved inner segment, and also the relationship between the added width of both and the overhang of the cover proves very narrow, the latter of very high crown or mean height, specifically of the order of half the chord, that is, more prominent when compared with the usual concrete tile or with the mixed ceramic type and even higher than the Arab tile itself, the result being that the run-off of rainwater is implemented, as in the case of the latter, in a half-hidden manner and in grooves of the superimposed side tile.

[0009] This invention is characterised in the special construction of the tile, in any material, which makes possible its adaptation to roofs of different ridge angle, based on the availability of a slight lateral displacement of the extremity corresponding to the cover of a course of tiles in their superposition with respect to the opposing extremity, of half-hidden flashing of the row arranged below. It is likewise possible to augment the tile distribution, bringing them closer together at will, thanks to the absence therein of antagonistic engaging projections on their opposing faces.

[0010] It also incorporates a diversity of transversal ribs on its internal face, for constructional reinforcement and in the shape of a truncated pyramid with very elongated rectangular base, the uppermost one acting as chock and the lowest one as sill, the latter being arranged sufficiently skewed in order that the play of light and shadow gives the roof a less solid aspect.

[0011] It likewise has a side step in the zone of the cover, to serve as butt and guide for zigzag alignment or as tile seal finishing, that is, by way of a staggered lateral alignment. This step, at different height according to finish, in the event that it is used as such and not in the conventional way of rows of equal height, permits different tiled roof configurations facilitating different roof appearances.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0012] To complete the description being given and in order to facilitate a better and easier understanding of the characteristics of the invention, the present specification is accompanied with a set of drawings, forming an integral part thereof, wherein is shown in an illustrative and not restrictive manner, the following:

[0013] Figure 1, shows a side elevation of the tile of the present invention.

[0014] Figure 2 shows a longitudinal cross section thereof, for the purpose of verifying the disposition of the ribs of the tile selected as preferred example.

[0015] Figure 3 is a constructional example of roofing, where the butt disposition of some tiles in the recesses of those adjacent can be seen, in the configuration of rows in seal finishes.

PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

[0016] In the light of the foregoing statements, the present invention relates to a tile fabricated with any type of material, from among all the simple tiles, provided with single channel and cover, of right dihedrons and recessed side.

[0017] It is characterised by a narrow horizontal overlap (1) and also a channel also narrow and which, nonetheless, permits small lateral displacements of the tiles resting thereupon, the channel being provided with an outer flat sector (2) and another inner grooved segment (3), with water flashing half-hidden by the covers of a "vertical" course of tiles in superposition with respect to the opposite extremity of the closest aligned course, these courses being laid in side-stepped tiles.

[0018] It also has a cover (4) with crown of the order of half the chord, as well as having the side extremity recessed (5), to serve as butt and guide for adjacent tiles, of different lengths, in order to configure different tiled roof forms.

[0019] It is also characterised in having a diversity of transversal ribs, for internal strengthening of the cover zone and for support of the flashing zone, in the shape of a whole or half truncated pyramid, with very elongated rectangular base, that disposed on the lower extremity being skewed, the uppermost one acting as chock (6) and the lowest as gutter (7), the intermediate ribs (8) being simple reinforcements.

[0020] The essential nature of this invention is not altered by variation in materials, form, size and arrangement of the constituent elements, described in a non-restrictive manner, sufficient for an expert in the subject to proceed to its replication.

Claims
