OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] As expressed in the title of the present specification, the following patent refers
to a hinge device for outdoor plates of automatic door answering devices, being of
the type of automatic door answering device plates that are normally installed in
entrance doors of apartment buildings, the entrance being restricted to people who
have been previously and adequately identified. There may be a camera that permits
the person who rings the bell in order to have access to the building to be seen,
in such a way that the present hinge device indistinctly permits the front plate to
be opened on the right or on the left thus permitting repairmen, when they should
have access to the inside thereof, to open the plate in the most favorable direction
in order to do the repair work, which represents a great advantage.
[0002] On the other hand, the rotation axes of the plate are defined by respective rods
arranged between two parts fastened to the box built into the wall, with respect to
the top and bottom sides thereof, respectively, and passing through the different
elements forming the front plate, in such a way that when opening the front plate
the two top and bottom parts, between which the rotation axes are located, are static.
Only the remaining elements forming the front plate move.
FIELD OF APPLICATION
[0003] The present hinge device is applicable in all types of outdoor plates of automatic
door answering devices, which are normally installed at the entrance of apartment
buildings.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0004] Among the embodiments existing on the market, we can cite the one where the outdoor
plate assembly of automatic door answering devices has a pair of L-shaped section
parts, positioned at the top and at the bottom. At one of its wings, it fastens to
the structure of the box built into the wall and at an end of its other wing there
is an extension with a hole through which a connecting rod of the components passes.
The front plates turns on the rod which thus acts as a rotation axis, in such a way
that by means of this embodiment the front plate can only turn to one side. With this
structure, if there is a desire to change the direction of rotation of the front plate
the pair of L-shaped section parts should be dismounted in order to interchange their
position, which is logically not practical.
[0005] Furthermore, at the top and at the bottom, the front plate has respective cover parts
that fasten to the built-in box and that have respective ornamental elements mounted
by means of screws. The cover parts are connected to the connecting rod of the components
opposite the one that acts as a rotation axis.
[0006] Hence, when the plate should be opened in order to allow access to the inside thereof
the two ornamental elements should be dismounted and the fastening screw of the two
cover parts should be loosened so that the workman can then turn the front of the
plate turning all the components thereof, except the L-shaped section parts integral
to the box built into the wall.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The present specification describes a hinge device for outdoor plates of automatic
door answering devices, being of the type of plates of automatic door answering devices
that are normally installed at the entrance doors of apartment buildings, which include
a built-in box and front comprised by some modules that include the respective components
thereof, characterized in that the hinge device comprises a front plate comprised
by two low bodies connected at the top and at the bottom to the box built into the
wall. These bodies are covered by respective ornamental elements, between which there
are other elements containing the different components, which in their connection
define the hinged door that can turn to both sides, said elements being defined by
a generally U-shaped profile, that has an open oval-shaped cavity in both vertexes,
in which there are three geometric centers. There are respective rods as rotation
axes mounted in the open oval-shaped cavities and the rods are positioned between
the two low bodies connected to the box built into the wall.
[0008] The built-in box has respective recesses on the inside surfaces of the top and bottom,
recesses that end in a wider recess where respective nuts are located, whereas the
outside surfaces thereof have some thickened parts provided with a hole that ends
in the cited nuts.
[0009] The fastening of the low bodies that are fastened to the top and bottom of the built-in
box is carried out by respective screws passing through a center front hole of the
corresponding body to be fastened, as well as through the hole of the outside thickened
part of the built-in box in order to screw on the respective nut housed in the recess
which said hole ends in.
[0010] The rods that act as rotation axes of the elements that comprise the hinged door
are positioned between the bodies connected at the top and at the bottom to the box
built into the wall, upon being screwed to one of them, in the corresponding blind
hole screwed thereto, permitting the same to be easily mounted and dismounted by the
simple screwing and unscrewing thereof.
[0011] The generally U-shaped elements that comprise the hinged door can be positioned for
the opening and closing processes, with respect to the corresponding rod that acts
as a rotation axis, positioned in relation to the open oval-shaped cavities thereof
of their inside vertexes according to three different positions with respect to the
three geometric centers that are defined in the open oval-shaped cavities. In this
way when the workman opens the door providing access to the inside, the door assembly
defined by the different elements forming the same will move adequately in order to
turn it 180°, having previously chosen towards which side the door is be opened.
[0012] This embodiment has a big advantage since it allows the door of the plate of the
automatic door opening device to open towards the most convenient side in order to
be able to facilitate the workmen's operations, aside from permitting a turn of 180°.
[0013] On the other hand, the opening and closing is done in a simple and rapid manner,
since in order to do so only the rod needs to be unscrewed and the rod on which the
door is to be turned is left in place.
[0014] In order to complement the description that is going to be made hereinafter and to
provide a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, the present
specification is accompanied by a set of drawings, in whose figures the most characteristic
details of the invention are represented in an illustrative and non-restrictive manner.

DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0016] In view of the commented figures and in accordance with the numbering used, we can
see how the hinge device for outdoor plates of automatic door answering devices comprises
a front plate (1) comprised of two low bodies (2) and (3) connected at the top and
at the bottom to the box (4) built into the wall, the bodies (2) and (3) being covered
by the corresponding decorative elements (5) and (6), between whose bodies there are
some elements (7), containing different components, that in their connection define
the door (8), capable of being opened on both sides.
[0017] The bodies (2 and 3) have in the center front position a hole (9) through which a
screw (10) for fastening to the built-in box (4) passes, for which purpose the inside
surfaces of the top and bottom of said built-in box (4) have respective recesses (11)
end in their front part in a thickened part (12) where a nut (13) is housed, a nut
to which the respective screw (10) can be fastened for the fastening of the bodies
(2) and (3) to the box (4) built into the wall, the screws (10) having access to the
respective nut (13) through the respective holes (14) if a thickened part of the outside
surface of the top and bottom thereof. Hence, the thickened part of the outside top
and bottom surfaces of the box (4) is comprised of recesses (11), the holes (14) ending
in such a way that the nuts (13) are positioned in the recesses (12).
[0018] The body (2) mounted in the top part of the built-in box (4) has respective threaded
holes (15) in its sides in a vertical position, whereas the body (3) mounted in the
bottom part of the built-in box (4) has respective through holes (16) in its sides
in a vertical position aligned with the holes (15) of the top body (2).
[0019] On the other hand, the different elements (7) that in their connection define the
hinged door (8) are defined by a generally U-shaped profile that has an oval-shaped
cavity (17) open at its inside side part in the inside vertexes thereof, where three
geometric centers (18, 19 and 20) are defined. The elements (7) will contain the audio
unit, the video unit and the units for the different push buttons of the apartments.
[0020] The elements (7) are connected together by means of some bodies that are inserted
between them and they have some rounded section pivots that are housed in the recesses
(21) of the profile, comprising the connection of all the elements (7) that define
the hinged door (8).
[0021] The rotation axis of the elements (7) that define the hinged door is comprised of
a pair of rods (22), permitting the door to turn in one direction or the other, in
such a way that the rods (22) are located in the cavities (17) of the profile where
the elements (7) are comprised. The fastening thereof to the structure of the automatic
door answering device unit is carried out as the rods (22) pass through the side holes
(16) of the body (3) integral at the bottom to the built-in box (4) and the rods are
fastened at their end (23) threaded in the holes (15) of the body (2) integral to
the top of the built-in box (4).
[0022] Hence, the rods (22) acting as the rotation axes of the door (8) will be inserted
through the holes (16) of the body (3) and through the cavities (17) of the different
elements (7), in order to connect to the body (2) as the threaded end (23) of the
rods (22) screws in the corresponding threaded holes (15) of said bodies (2).
[0023] Then the bodies (2) and (3) will fasten to the built-in box (4) by means of the respective
screws (10) passing through the center holes (9) thereof and through the holes (14),
fastening to the corresponding nuts (13) housed in the recesses (12) of the recesses
(11) of the top and bottom surfaces of the built-in box (4). Finally, ornamental elements
(5) and (6) will be placed on the bodies (2) and (3), as shown in figure 1. The assembly
has a perfect appearance.
[0024] The rods (22) can be turned at the end opposite where they have a screw thread (23)
by means of the corresponding tool, permitting them to be unscrewed in order to open
the assembly of elements (7) that define the door (8) in each case, with respect to
the rod (22) that is mounted.
[0025] On the other hand, there are three geometric centers in the cavities (17) of the
profile of the elements (7) so that the relative position of the door with respect
to the rod (22) that acts as a rotation axis can be varied, in such a way that in
the assembly of the plate (1) the rods (22) are positioned with respect to the geometric
center (18). All the elements are static with respect thereto, but in order for the
elements (7) forming the door (8) to be able to turn once one of the rods has been
dismounted, the relative position of the door with respect to the rod (22) can be
varied, in order to obtain a 180° turn thereof.
[0026] Hence, in accordance with the figures of the drawings and as shown in figures 1 and
3, when one of the rods (22) is dismounted by simply unscrewing its end (23) from
the hole (15) of the body (2) integral to the built-in box (4), so that the door (8)
defined by the different elements (7) can turn, it will first of all move towards
the side where the rod has been dismounted, in other words, in accordance with the
attached drawings, as shown by arrow A of figure 4. The rod (22) that acts as a rotation
axis is in the position with respect to the geometric center (19) (figure 4) and finally,
it will move slightly towards the outside according to arrow B of figure 5, separating
from the level of the built-in box (4) and the rod (22) passing to the position with
respect to the geometric center (20). As of said position (figure 5), the door (8)
can be opened in such a way that the assembly of elements (7) can turn 180° (figure
6).
[0027] If it is desired to turn the door (8) in the opposite direction, it will suffice
to dismount the other rod and carry out the operations as indicated. The rod that
in this case has been dismounted, will remain mounted and it serves as an explanatory
example.
